Have you seen shelves made
out of books on Pinterest?
I have and loved the idea,
so I created my own recently.
It’s just the right size to
hold a few small pieces, and
create a little vignette on.
create a little vignette on.
I’d like to make a few more variations
of these shelves, because they
are fun & easy to make out of battered, old books
and it doesn’t take long to do.
I screwed a shelf bracket
to the bottom of the largest book.
The other 2 books are just resting on it.
After making this one, one tip I would
recommend is on the unbound side of your book,
use a adhesive between the pages of
each corner of your book to make the
pages stick together before screwing
the shelf bracket on.
If you don’t, the pages on either side of
the bracket tend to “fan” out and arch
down. You can tell a little in the photo above.
You could also leave a cover on the bottom
of your book, to give it more stability.
I really, really wanted to show you the
wall this book shelf is attached to,
but decided I’m still not happy with it,
so I’ll be working on it this
weekend and hope to show
it to you next week instead.
I LOVE the new wall and want to
really be happy with how I finish it.
Blessings,
Angie

Due to unethical websites stealing content, I can no longer provide a full RSS feed. I work too hard to produce original and inspiring content to have it stolen by others. Thank you for your understanding – I appreciate each one of you that take time out of your day to visit Knick of Time!!
What a nice idea to do shelves out of books 🙂 Never seen one before.
Have a great weekend

super cute!
Angie,
I have not seen these. What a great idea.Love your vignette.

Adorable~
I like the shelf– so unique. The tip for the back of the book being left in tact…it good to know, because that hanging down pages would make nuts!
That’s why you can’t see the pretty photos on my calendar…cause they hang down so I just flop it over!

Love your shelf and arrangement! Have you seen where you attach the bracket to the bottom of the book with the bracket going UP the wall? Then the book actually becomes the shelf and as you stack other books/things, you hide the bracket!
Hey girl, your book shelf is so wonderful! I love it, I have some brackets like those that I could paint and it would be great! Thanks for the chance to see what you’ve made.
Hugs, Cindy

Hi Angie,
Very cute idea!

Love it…very cute…and I love vintage books. Plus this gives a use for a book that’s imperfect. Thanks for sharing.
I hadn’t seen these. How neat!
I absolutely love this idea!!! And your vignette is just charming. Would you call this a book book shelf? :)Thanks for hosting Knick of Time party and have a wonderful day. xo
This is way too cool. I love everything about it and must have one. Thanks.
What a brilliant idea….hmmm got some books I could do that with.
Love these too! I have the books and the brackets…just not the wall space! Trying to simplify around here…maybe I’ll have to make room 🙂 Looks great! laurel
I LOVE it. So creative.
Angie, this would be so cool to place in a library/study! Maybe using two brackets to support the first book would give it more stability? I need to us this fun idea. 🙂 Sue
This is cute! Thanks for sharing!
Very creative idea.
Love your vignette and, of course, your shelf!
