Bathroom Reveal

We now have one more room we can check off the list of finished spaces in our home!  Our new bathroom is specifically designed for the men in my family, so I decorated it with a barber shop theme.  I didn’t purchase any of the decor for the room.  I used things I already had and created a few projects as well. (BEFORE – taken before we moved in) My husband converted the one open room into 2 separate rooms {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1900’s Bon Ami Advertisements

Bon Ami (French for “Good Friend”) has been in existence for 120 and continues today, though it has weathered tough times, and nearly went out of existence for some time.    Though their packaging has changed, it still includes the chick that consumers loved.The slogan, “Hasn’t Scratched Yet”, was coined because newly-hatched chicks don’t scratch for food, as they are still living off the nutrients from the yolk, and Bon Ami was created with feldspar, rather than the harsher quartz {Read More}

Shave and a Haircut

I know I’ve said at least half a dozen times that our “men’s room” is almost done.  It really is almost done, but those little details and the final cleaning always take me the longest to finish, but I wanted to show you some extra decor I made for the room and didn’t cost me anything. Since it’s a room for mainly the men in the house, I decided to go with a barber shop theme.  I had 3 pairs {Read More}

When Opportunity Knocks…

Actually, opportunity didn’t knock – it called my cell phone, but the call was about a door and the lesson is the same…spread the word about being a junk lover, because you never know when someone may remember and send some wonderful junk your way. Last week, I got the phone call every junker loves to get.  “Hey Angie, would you be interested in some old doors?”  Now, old doors can mean cheap hollow core doors, or old doors can {Read More}

This is Why a Body Needs Sleep…Boot & Shoe Store Sign

I had another one of those 1:30 in the morning moments last weekend, when I just had to make something before I could sleep.  Actually, I had already gone to bed and been asleep for awhile, but my mind was still on “high alert” because I was waiting for my daughter to get home from the drive-in movie, so some little sound woke me up, thinking it was her.  I decided to just stay up and work on something until {Read More}

Farmers Market Sign – Repurposed Headboard

Last year I picked up several beautiful antique head and foot boards at the auction.  The were filthy and I was the only bidder, so I got them for just a few dollars. I’ve been cleaning and clearing out some space to in my workshop, so I was finally able to pull out this headboard and work on it. I cut the posts off of the sides, then painted it bright white, then put a coat of homemade mustard yellow {Read More}
