Teapot Lamp Makeover

I brought home this teapot lamp last week and since I’m not really a teapot (or is it a coffee pot?) kind of gal, I thought I’d just use the lamp parts on another project and pitch the teapot.  My husband convinced me to fix it up though, (probably because he knew I’d ask him to help me use the parts on another project), so I took his advice.
I didn’t take a before picture, but the teapot had a fake silver finish which was starting to fleck off.  I was too lazy to try to sand the whole teapot down to remove the flecking finish, so I painted it bright white instead.
I liked how it looked, but decided a cream color would look a little more old-fashioned, so I gave it another few coats.  Knowing the flecking paint underneath might continue flecking, I distressed those areas and to highlight some of the raised details.
It didn’t come with a lampshade, but I had a spare one in my workshop.

It was pretty boring looking, so I brushed painted it with some pretty mint paint and added some cream-colored twill tape around the edges.
