Did you think you’d seen the last of tiered stands from me? Well, I hope not, because in the past, I’ve always shown my tiered stands as more of a decorative item, but with my most recent tiered stand, I wanted to show it as a decorative, but very useful piece to have.
I picked up a set of vintage cake pans at an auction. I had no intention of baking cakes. What!
With an old spindle and some paint, I turned it this!
We don’t entertain in our home very often, but when we do, table and counter space is always in short supply. By the time I put plates, cups, napkins and utensils out, it doesn’t leave much space for the food, and I usually end up with some things on the counters, and some on the table, and hot items get left on top of the stove. A tiered stand helps stretch your space further, and it doesn’t need to be put away when the entertaining ends, because it can hold so many other things, and save some counter space. My husband loves to have a tiered stand to hold K-cups, and I like to use them as a catch-all for all the things that would normally clutter up my counters.
This stand was made with a set of 3 vintage cake pans. This is probably the third set I’ve found of this type of pans, and I snatch the up quick, because the graduated sizes of the pans are perfect for tiered stands.
The spindle connecting the tiers is a leg from an antique table. I have a whole gallon of this pretty red paint that was a mistint, and a bargain price, so I thought I would give this stand a pop of color with it. I envision in being used for the holidays, holding finger foods, or even cups, napkins, and silverware. It would look so cute filled with Christmas cookies too, and the thought makes me crave some!
It’s available in my shop here, but if it sells, I’ll need to make another one soon, because my husband’s parents are coming for Thanksgiving, and I’ll need one then.

These tiered stands are growing on me and I’m wondering how to make them myself. I have a large collection of graniteware pieces, maybe I could bear to use a couple of them. How do you drill through the enamel without shattering it. I’ve dropped enough old graniteware bowls to know the enamel shatters off in pieces like corelle dishes.
I’ve been wanting a tiered stand for sometime now. I might just have to make one. Pretty! & I Pinned it.

Angie, I was the lucky person who bought this great stand. It is now beautifully displaying antique Christmas ornaments for sale in my antiques shop! After the holidays Imwill bring this beauty home for more “mundane” tasks! She is in all her glory now..good thing holiday time is short, She would never allow me to take her out of the limelight!
