I used to change my blog headers on a regular basis, to reflect seasons or a new favorite photo. It’s more challenging to do that now, as my header space is much more long and narrow, and isn’t large enough to accommodate most photos. I do like my header now, because it isn’t too “busy” looking, but sometimes I miss changing out my headers.
For those of you who are new readers, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what my blog looked like in its earlier stages, and for those of you who have been with me for some time, I hope you don’t mind revisiting them!
Here’s the progression of my headers from my earliest blogging days through the present.
This wasn’t my very first blog header, but it’s the earliest one I have saved. I think it may have been the 2nd one I used, as I shot this photo just a few months after starting to blog.

This header was a favorite with my readers. I shared this photo as a printable with the “to everything there is a season” Bible verse HERE.
This was another photo that I shared with “It is well with my soul” song lyrics HERE. It was such a favorite with everyone, I turned it into a blog header as well.
I changed my header at this point, to accommodate two photos, on a gray background. The first 2 photo header included the same ironstone pitcher on a ladder photo, with a photo of my daughter’s baby dress hanging in our laundry room.
For the next several headers, I wanted them to reflect seasons, so for summer, I used a photo of my DIY wooden swing, and the makeover of my grain sack sofa.
To transition into autumn, I used an autumn sheet music image, and an image from my Harvest Party post. You’ll notice at this point, my headers all became shorter, because my previous headers took up a HUGE amount of space at the top of my blog.
Then, I reverted back to a one image header again. I took this photo to sell the books in my Etsy shop, but I’m not sure that I ever shared the image on the blog. I just loved the look of the antique book spines.
This photo was as shot from my wooden spool turned into a table post. That table now resides in our guest “cottage” (a.k.a. “the shed”). The light was streaming through the window so pretty that day, and I was loving the pretty white daisies I had on the table.
This photo was one of many from my How to Build an “Antique” Cabinet post. That cabinet is patiently waiting for a pretty spot in our bedroom, when the remodel is finished.

And that brings us to my present header. No photos, just simple text, which I hope reflects my simple farmhouse style. Some day, if I change to a different theme that allows for photos, I may bring back some photos, but for now I’m happy with this clean look.

Hi Angie! I love some of the old full picture headers. If I can figure out how to link it back to your blog, can I use them as the top header picture for my personal Facebook page? Hi Angie … my favorite header was the ironstone pitcher on the ladder. I created that same scene with an old enamel pitcher but never used it on anything. Really not as pretty as yours. I wanted to use it in a header, but did not feel I had the right to copy your idea. I like pictures in headers, but then you need to keep changing with the seasons. Keep on keeping us inspired and thanks.

Honestly, I prefer your header with the photos. Your new one gets lost in all the white… maybe if it had a border around it? Just trying to help, not trying to be mean, I LOVE your blog and all you do!

Angie, I have just started following your blog. I like it a lot. I grew up on a farm and love all the old-fashioned things from years past. I also am a photographer and enjoy looking at the images you post. “Eye-candy”, you know?
