I have a ladder hanging in my living room wall, right behind where our Christmas tree is, and it was the perfect spot for a small

Would you like to make your own?

Well, let’s get started!

You can make this in less than an hour.

Supplies Needed:

~ Small piece of pallet wood

Minwax Dark Walnut

~Red chalky paint (I used Vintage Store House Bandana Red chalky paint)

Believe chipboard word

~White spray paint

~Sander or sand paper

~E600 glue

~ Drill

~ Twine

Instructions:

~ Cut a piece of pallet wood to your desired length.  I cut my piece 9″ long.

~ Stain it with dark wood stain.  Allow the stain to dry, then paint a coat of red over it, and allow that to dry.  Use a blow dryer to speed up the process.

Distress the surface with a sander to reveal some of the stained wood and raw wood beneath the paint.

I used tung oil to seal and protect it, but you could use furniture wax also.

~Spray paint the believe word white, and allow it to dry.

~ Attach word to the wood with E6000 or hot glue.

~ Drill holes on each side of the wood, and insert twine from the back to the front of each hole, and tie a knot on the ends in the front.

That’s it – your little rustic Christmas sign is done!

  1. Adorable! I love the old wood with the red 🙂 Tung oil or hemp oil look beautiful as a sealer 🙂

  2. This is just soooooo precious…I love the rustic quality of it and the white against that deep red just pops! Love the message of your sign, too! 🙂
