Personal Update

I wanted to take a minute to thank you all for all the sweet comments that were left about my entryway remodel, and to give you a little personal update.

If you recall, my parents came to visit back in October, and while here, my dad fell and broke his hip, and spent almost two weeks in the hospital before they could return home.

Once home, he was doing pretty well, but then he came down with what the doctors thought was pneumonia. Further testing and another hospital visit later, it was discovered that his heart is failing, in addition to other serious health problems.  His heart is only functioning at about 25%, which means the slightest exertion exhausts him.  Even before breaking his hip, and the recent health problems, he was unsteady on his feet, but these recent problems have made him extremely likely to fall, and he is now wearing oxygen full time.

Long story short, given how quickly his health has deteriorated, I felt I needed to get back to New Mexico as quickly as I could.

So as you are reading this, my youngest son and I are aboard a train on our way there.

I won’t be missing in action on my blog.

Thankfully, I did have some projects finished, and just had to cram to get them photographed before I left, and a few dear bloggers will also be stepping in to share here as well.

Your prayers for my family would be appreciataed, and I’ll try to give some updates when I can.

Thank you all & Blessings,

  57. My thoughts are with you and your mom. I too have a father with a bad heart. I just got him out of the hospital 2 weeks ago. With only 22% left of his heart function, he to tires easily. But is strong. His leg strength is bad from where they took the veins for his 1st open heart surgery 36 years ago. Losing my mom which will be 6 years on the 22nd, has made him lonely.
I know the time will come to move him closer or in with me. Caring for our parents is hard, but we are lucky we still have them. Good luck and I hope he feels better.
PS. Watch your and your mom’s health too. Caregivers can forget to take care of themselves
