There are so many life lessons you can learn from the simplest of things … like a lemon.

Let’s think about it.

To make lemonade, first you need to squeeze and squish the poor little lemon until there isn’t much left but the rind.

But then after all the squeezing, squishing, and adding a bit of sugar comes the most delicious and refreshing drink that made it so worth it.

And what would lemon bars be without a bit of fresh zest?  All you have to do is scratch the surface of the rind, but it adds the extra zing that make those bars so tasty.

I think life is a lot like lemons.

Sometimes you have to be squished and squeezed until you think you can’t take anymore before you realize it was all for something really good for your life.

And sometimes you have to “scratch the surface” of other people to realize how much zing they can add to your own life if you give them a chance.

“Life Lessons from a Lemon” … someone should write a book about it (just not me). 🙂

My daughter loves lemons.  She puts slices in her water and tea, and squirts it over shrimp.

But I recently learned of a use for it that made me love lemons too.

Are you ready for it?

Lemons are a natural bleach and can help diminish age spots.

Seriously!

Now I’m keeping our crisper drawer full of them, because I have a few age spots that have been driving me nuts.

I just started using it, so I’ll let you know if my experiment is successful.

But in the meantime, I wanted to do something pretty with all my lovely little lemons.

I put together the prettiest and easiest little lemon-inspired spring table centerpiece and made a pitcher full of fresh homemade lemonade.  So I’ll show how I did both!
