Mini Galvanized Bucket & Mason Jar Succulent Planters

Mini Galvanized Buckets & Mason Jar Succulent Planters

About six months ago, I bought a bunch of miniature mason spice jars.  I’ve been holding on to them all this time, not knowing what I’d do with them.

A few days ago, I was looking at the hens and chicks in my junk garden ladder plant stand, and I had a light bulb moment!

I decided to dig up some of the smaller plants and put them in the little jars.

It took just a few minutes to fill them with potting soil and plant all of them.

They’re just the right size to set on a window sill or use as table decor.

My son’s fiancée likes them, so I’m taking these mini mason jar succulent planters for her to use at the wedding next week.

And they do look adorable, if I do say so myself. 🙂

I looked around to see what else I could use for more of the plants and found a few miniature galvanized buckets that I got at a yard sale a few years ago.

Since they are a few different sizes, I used one of the larger ones for some of the plants that were all connected together.

My daughter loves these in the little galvanized buckets, so I’ll plant more in some of the other buckets.

Early next month, she’ll close on the house she’s buying.  It’s a charming bungalow style house, and I can’t wait to help her start finding furniture and decorating.

Because they multiplied so well, I’ll buy more next year to put in the containers on the ladders.

Great idea and they will be perfect for the wedding.

  2. I love galvanized buckets–of any size! So my favorite succulent holder is your bucket. But I also think the jars are cute. They’d be great gifts with a little twine or burlap ribbon tied around the neck.
