Ornament Palooza | Christmas in High Gear

Halloween 2016 is down in the books, Thanksgiving is up next, and Christmas will be here before you know it.  So I thought we could look back at each ornament made by 31 different bloggers, including myself in October. I have lots of Christmas projects and decor planned, so I’ve got to get busy working on them all.  I plan to share them throughout November, so you have plenty of time to make any that inspire you. This is my {Read More}

Farmhouse Christmas Tree and Gingerbread House “Issues”

I wanted a  simple farmhouse Christmas tree with lots of handmade ornaments this year.Our Christmas tree is far from magazine perfect, but when I finished decorating it and my oldest son saw it, he commented about how nice he thought it looked. If it meets with my family’s approval, that’s really all that matters.

Red Barn + Christmas Decorating Ideas in the Kitchen

Do you remember that beautiful red barn I photographed in the summer (seen here)? Well, I had 2 big empty spots on my living room wall when I sold the repurposed drawer shelves (seen here) so I made 2 canvas photos to fill the empty spaces. I took the barn photo, and our current family photo to Staples, where they turned them into engineering prints for me. When I got  back home, I turned the engineering prints into photo canvases (tutorial here) and hung {Read More}

Gingham Christmas Wreath and Gift Cans with Video

I don’t know what it is about  gingham, but it has an old-fashioned charm that I can’t get enough of.  It reminds me of curtains hanging in an old farmhouse and vintage aprons. I bought an evergreen garland for my entryway, and had a lot left over, so I wired a leftover piece around a grapevine wreath to hang in my kitchen. I used this  gingham wired ribbon to make a bow for the wreath.  It’s easy to work with, and holds its shape {Read More}

When Santa Claus, gets home from his long night’s ride around the world, he was lacking a place to hang his coat and hat.   Since the jolly old guy loved the Classic Christmas Books Stocking Hanger than I made last year, I knew he’d love a coat rack made of red and white  books, ‘cuz he’s a red and white kind of fella! 🙂

DIY Christmas Ornaments with Quilt Block Patterns

I’ve kind of gone nuts this year sharing DIY Christmas ornaments, but since I wanted a specific theme for our Christmas tree, it was easier to make the ornaments myself  than search all the stores looking for just the right ones. Since the theme I picked is “simple farmhouse”, I brainstormed what comes to mind when I think of farmhouses, and quilts immediately came to mind. I remembered the barn quilt my son and I made together in the spring, and the quilt-inspired chair I {Read More}
