Antique Dressing Table

Just before Christmas isn’t the best time to splurge on yourself, but I did.  It was totally unplanned, and I didn’t even know I wanted it until I saw it, but once I saw it, I couldn’t make myself walk away.  I had gone into our local thrift store, specifically looking for wood photo frames,because I had a few Milk & Cream Co. sign orders to make for customers. And there it was.  I’m pretty sure I heard it call {Read More}

How to Get the Look of Antique Wooden Embellishments

I have a thing for antique bed headboards and footboards, and have been fortunate to get quite a few of them at auctions at prices that blew me away.  Unfortunately, none of them were the right size for my bed, and they are hard to sell online, because the shipping often costs more than what I charge for them. This was an antique headboard that I turned into a coat rack (more about it here).  Not only did it have a {Read More}

Welcome back to the Vintage Inspiration Party – thanks for joining us!  I’ve been working all week on projects for my 12 Days of Christmas event, so there is paint, glitter, and paper scraps all over my house, but it’s been fun!  If you missed the first 5 days, you can find them HERE.  Come back later this evening, to see what I made for day 6!! An Antique Mirror Makeover, Rusty Old Ice Skates, and a Special Visit

Last week I had a little time to kill while I was in town, so I made a quick trip into an antique store.  I spotted this little antique mirror in the window display.  Sorry about this awful photo – I took it at night, after I’d removed the mirror.  The original dark black paint hid the pretty carved details in the frame, and the paint was looking worse for the wear anyway, so I decided to give it a {Read More}

Little Wooden Tool Tote – Business in a Box!

I think I may have whined about this once (or a hundred) times before, but as much as I love having my online Etsy shop, I detest shipping the things I sell.   Yeah, I know detest is a pretty strong word, but I pretty strongly dislike the whole process.  Several years ago, I had lofty plans to really make my packaging look “branded” and special.  I wanted that “brown paper packages, tied up in strings kind of look, so {Read More}

Galvanized Metal Pitchers and a Surprise Encounter { It’s a Small World After All }

Last weekend, I went to a business estate auction.  It was held at the same tiny little town I went to photograph my little lace embellished chair, and that’s when I spotted the auction sign.  The auction was mainly really large equipmentand tools, and I only spotted a few things I was interested in, but since we were already there, I decided to stick around and see if I could win on those things that caught my eye.  I didn’t {Read More}

A New Sign, a Bread Pan, a Lunch Box and more

I always have visions of summer being such a relaxing, laid-back time, but it never seems to work out that way.  It’s been a very fun summer, but busy enough that I’ve done very little work.  Over the last month, I’ve brought home quite a few neat things, but most of them have been sitting in a corner of my living room, I’m just now getting around to taking photos of them. I found this bread pan at an antique {Read More}
