{Son}day – Words of Thanks

Today I’d like to ask a question.It’s a question I think we shouldask ourselves often. Have you thanked your pastor lately?Have you thanked his wife? Now, I’m not talking aboutthanking them in October duringPastor Appreciation Month.Doing it then is fine, but I’ll be honest…I’m not crazy about it. It feels kind of obligatory tothank them then and Iwonder if they truly feelappreciated during that month,or feel like everyone gives the a cardsimply because it’s expected. {source}I’m talking about thanking themwhen {Read More}

See… It’s a Mantel!

My husband doubted my sanitywhen I brought a mammoth piano home,because I *needed* a mantle in my home –and this piano was going to serve that purpose. Now, I ask you, is THIS a mantle or what? Who needs a fireplace mantel?  I have ebony, ivory and that stunning brass soundboard inside it! The wood piece which normally covers the soundboard is gorgeous wood, so I will probably turn it into a shelf. I found this amazing old mirror at a thrift {Read More}

Using the Remnants – Antique Grainsack Pillow

I love the motto,“Use it up,wear it out,make it do,or do without.” So in an effort to “use up” some of my fabric stash,I mailed some antique fabric & laceremnants to my mom,{who loves me enoughto keep sewing things for me}and asked her create this grain sack pillow for me. The fabric is leftoverfrom the seat cover I madefor this old chair. I love the aged appearance & the letteringon this grain sack. Things don’t stay clean long in our house,with 2 {Read More}

The Other Side of the Story

Months ago, I showed you the remodel of our entryway, from a room with dated, dark paneling, to a room with a whole new, but vintage look. But, only half of the room was remodeled because the wall on the other half of the room needed to remain open to the studs so my husband could work on the plumbing going on in the bathroom behind the wall. Well, that “ladies room” finally got finished, (seen HERE), so it was time to finish up the entryway. Again, more dictionary pages were added to the other walls, but I wanted {Read More}

My Valentine’s Punishment

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I have a little story for you. Get a Kleenex…it’s a very sad little story. Last year it seemed tragic, but this year I can reflect on it without weeping. You see, it isn’t all that often that I get flowers from my husband. Being the tightwad, thrifty person that I am, years ago, I made the mistake of commenting about the over-priced bouquet he bought me, and he decided to never make that mistake again. {Read More}
