Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1800’s Fashions and Charming Home

I love Wednesdays!  I look forward to sharing more
antique graphics, illustrations and photos with you.
This week’s images are from the fashion pages of several
mid-1800’s Peterson’s Magazines.  Isn’t this woman in a headdress lovely?

Here’s the original page it was on.
Here’s the image again with 2 slightly different color tones.

Every month, these Peterson’s magazines featured
a children’s fashion page.   Here are 2 different ones.

Each month there was also a 2-page spread
featuring Paris fashions.  Unfortunately, my original page
is damaged in the center, but here are a few images I was able to scan from it.
I doubt their clothing was very comfortable in the
1800’s, but it sure was beautiful.

This last image is from an 1800’s book called,
“Searchlights on Health: Light on Dark Corners”.
The copyright date is 1895.
The pages in my copy of the book have a lovely
aged color to them, but the book is extremely fragile
and the cover is missing.
Fortunately, the entire book, including all
the illustrations in it are available from
The Project Gutenburg, HERE.
This book was written as, “A Complete Sexual Science
and A Guide to Purity and Physical Manhood,
Advice to Maiden, Wife and Mother
Love, Courtship and Marriage”
It’s a fascinating glimpse into the etiquette
and thoughts of the late 1800’s American society
and the illustrations are all really lovely.
Blessings,
Angie
