15 Clever Hanger Ideas via Hometalk {You Know I Love a Good Hang-up!}

I really enjoyed putting together my 20+ Thrifty Farmhouse Decor Ideas board for Hometalk, so I was thrilled when they asked me to curate another board for them.  The theme of this board is Clever Hanger Ideas. Architectural Salvage

Yeah….I know.   It’s a thing of beauty. Remember the phone call I received that some friends from church were tearing down their old house, and would I like 2 of these old doors?  Needless to say, when I laid eyes on them, I could have hugged them. Well, there were also 4 of these old porch columns they said I could take also, but they would remove them for me right before the house was torn down.  (Side note {Read More}

Christmas in July – Link Party Announcement

Is Christmas about the furthest thing from your mind right now?  It’s gonna be here before you know it, right?  Less than 6 months away. I used to do so much planning for Christmas, and started my gift-giving list in January, but the last few years I’ve been very last-minute and have rushed around like a nut trying to get all the gifts bought, wrapped, shipped, etc.  I’m hoping to get back to putting more planning into it, so when {Read More}

Opportunity Quote Sign

When we remodeled our kitchen, my husband rebuilt the existing cabinets to make the cabinet under our sink, but the previous doors no longer fit, so he built some out of pine boards.  He connected several together to make them look like worn plank boards, but honestly, neither of us was in love with them.  Later, he made new cabinet doors that were fronted with antique ceiling tiles. I came across a quote by Thomas Edison on Pinterest that has {Read More}

He Came Bearing Gifts

I mentioned before that my mom, sister and her 4 kids recently visited to celebrate my son’s graduation and spend some time together.  They weren’t in my door 10 minutes when my nephew came to me with gifts in hand. This boy could have a future as a junker, because he knows just the kind of stuff I love and is good at finding it.  They live in a super, duper, duper old house in New Mexico and attached to {Read More}

Teapot Lamp Makeover

I brought home this teapot lamp last week and since I’m not really a teapot (or is it a coffee pot?) kind of gal, I thought I’d just use the lamp parts on another project and pitch the teapot.  My husband convinced me to fix it up though, (probably because he knew I’d ask him to help me use the parts on another project), so I took his advice. I didn’t take a before picture, but the teapot had a {Read More}
