A Few New Hang-ups

Rarely a week goes by that I don’t make at least one coat rack, but I finished 4 of them this week. I had a small piece of oak left over after creating a longer coat rack several weeks ago, and since I only had one of this style of old coat hook, I decided to just make a small, single hook coat rack out of it. I used my Silhouette to cut a vinyl stencil for the words, using {Read More}

Antique Graphic Rose Image and Piano Advertisement

This beautiful image came from a bookmark given to customers of a piano company.  I found it tucked inside an old Bible from the early 1900’s.  I’ve removed the wording on this image. Here is the original image. This is the advertisement on the back side of the bookmark. I like this wreath shape and think it would be nice to duplicate on a chalkboard. Moving Right Along…

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I’m an obsessive “doer”.  I always have several projects I’m working on at a time, and many more on the back burner, waiting to start on.  My husband and I spent the winter months remodeling our laundry room and men’s bathroom, and I completed many other projects for my home and shop, and we have done some work remodeling our bedroom, but now that the weather is nice, I tormented asked my husband if {Read More}

It Does a Body Good

Sometimes you just have to milk things for all they’re worth, and I’ve been busy milkin’ this Milk and Cream Co. image like crazy this week. I brought home a large lazy Susan from a barn sale, (which was really just a yard sale in a cool old barn), and gave it the Milk & Cream treatment. …and another antique window got the same treatment, …and so did a cabinet door….and I’m still not tired of using this image, so {Read More}

Repurposed Books Light – A Bright Idea

Once in awhile, I have a “light bulb moment”. Usually I have to tinker around with things for awhile before I figure out what I’m going to do with them, but when I found a plain white light bulb socket at a thrift store, and I knew I had an Edison-style light bulb at home, the light in my head went on, and I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. A few antique books, 2 screws, and {Read More}

Good Pickin’s

 My mom, sister and I have hit a lot of antique stores, yard sales, and a flea market in the last week, so I wanted to show you some of my favorite finds.  This antique singer sewing machine and stand are gorgeous.  The artwork on these old machines is amazing.  I can’t understand why today’s sewing machine manufacturers don’t do something this beautiful on the machines they produce.  Only 1 drawer has a pull on it, but I think a {Read More}
