Painted Glass Bottles – {Mad About Mint}

I love the shape and details of Seagrams bottles (no, I didn’t empty them), so I bring them home whenever I come across them.  Whenever I’m painting something, I always look around to see if there’s anything else I want to paint in the same color before I wash out my brushes and put the paint away.  I was painting coat racks with my homemade chalk-style paint and my eye landed on this pair of bottles that have been waiting {Read More}

Make an Autumn Sign with Wordle That Changes Each Time You Click!

Create an autumn sign with Wordle! Have you used Wordle to make word art yet? If you haven’t, be warned…it’s addictive. You create a list of words (I went with an “Autumn” theme for mine), then just generate the Wordle. You can select your color scheme, layout and font, so it’s limitless what you can create with it. I wanted to turn my Wordle into an autumn sign though, so I: 1) painted an oak cabinet door with chalkboard paint, {Read More}

Beeswax Candles

I’ve been wanting to make some beeswax candles for quite some time, but didn’t want to pay shipping prices to get a few blocks of the wax sent to me, since we have a well-known beekeeping business about an hour away.  A few months ago, I was finally near the business, so I bought a few 1-lb. blocks of pure beeswax. I used a knife to grate large shreds off the block. I didn’t use a thermometer to heat the {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Early 1900’s Primer Book Page

Even though I’m not mentally ready to give up summer and get back to schoolwork with my youngest son, I guess I can’t put it off my longer – as much as I’d like to. I absolutely love antique primers though, so I have an adorable page from a 1910 Picture Primer by Ella Beebe to share with you today. Knick of Time Tuesday #101

Welcome back to Knick of Time Tuesday!Summer is having its last hurrah in my neck of the woods, with temperatures in the mid 90’s – which is hotter than it’s been most of the rest of the summer.  Two of my kids are settled into their apartment at college and my daughter starts classes at her college tomorrow.  I finally ordered everything my youngest son needs for homeschooling this year, so it’s been a hectic week.  It’s hard to believe {Read More}

Free Fonts to use with your Silhouette Machine

I’ve been out in my workshop all afternoon, determined to get it to a point that I’m not completely grossed out to be working in it.  It is rustic, to say the least, but it’s all I have and I am thankful it gives me someplace to work on projects, other than my kitchen table. Since I don’t have a project to share with you today, instead I thought I’d share another tip for those of you with Silhouette machines. {Read More}

More Bed Spring Projects

I’ve got several boxes full of old, rusty springs, so a few weeks ago I put some of them to use on some new projects.  I love combining old wood with old metal, so most of my springs got added to wood in one way or another. A few rusty springs with jelly jars in them were added to a salvaged piece of tongue and groove wood. It makes a fun little candle or flower holder. Don’t these yellow flowers {Read More}

Printable Antique Photo & Mat

I love to look through old photos at antique stores, and occasionally bring some home.  In addition the liking the photo itself, I’m always on the lookout photos that have pretty photo mats in good condition. Here’s one I brought home recently of a pretty young woman wearing a lovely dress and a string of pearls.  The photo mat had just a little damage, but I was able to digitally touch it up to share with you. You can insert {Read More}
