Heads Up and a Question for You

My husband and I braved going to an auction this afternoon.  I came home with a Jeep-full, but I froze my toes and fingertips off to do it, as all the old “junk” I love is always sold outdoors and the finer antiques are sold inside the auction house.  Assuming the sun comes out enough to give me decent light to take some photos, I’ll be sharing some of my finds with you later in the week, but right now {Read More}

I love the font on this page from an antique hymnal I have, and I love both of the hymns on it as well. I hope you enjoy them both too! Have a blessed {Son}day! Christmas Signs on Repurposed Things

I guess I’m a poor planner, because it never occurs to me to work on Christmas projects a few months in advance, so I have them ready to list in my shop BEFORE the holiday season starts, but every year, around late November, I realize I haven’t created anything for the Christmas season to sell.  This year was no exception, so I’ve only created a few signs, and I’m not sure I’ll make any more, since most people have already {Read More}

Repurposed Antique Mirror Frame into Chalkboard – Oh joy!

If you follow me on Facebook, you may have read that I scored an antique mirror at a thrift store on Black Friday.   The store wasn’t doing any special sales, but I just wanted to do a quick run through it and got there about 15 minutes before they closed.    I saw this big framed mirror leaning up against the wall, but it didn’t have a price on it.  When I asked for a price and they came {Read More}

Advertisement Christmas Ornament: 1800’s FAO Schwarz Bell

This antique Christmas advertisement was from F.A.O. Schwarz and was intended to be cut out and used as a Christmas ornament.  It came from an 1880’s Harper’s magazine. {Right click  on image to save and print} F.A.O. Schwarz is the oldest toy store in the United States, which was founded in 1862, by German immigrant Frederick August Otto Schwarz.  Originally, it was called, “Toy Bazaar”, in its first store in Baltimore, and according to information I found on the internet, the year {Read More}

Easy Christmas Crafts

I’m thrilled with all of the holiday projects that were shared at last week’s party!  I’m featuring 4 of my favorite easy Christmas crafts that all include tutorials, and were all repurposed from other items. I absolutely love this Christmas wall art that Tanya @ Twelve O Eight made out of canning jar lids. This rustically pretty Birch Bark Tree Topper was created by Melissa @ Shabby Love. Adina @ Simply Country Life gave her old measuring tins some Christmas charm with burlap, {Read More}

Repurposed Christmas Candle Holder Centerpieces

I always struggle to figure out what to use as a centerpiece on my kitchen table during the Christmas season.  It’s hard to find one that doesn’t take up too much of the table, and doesn’t visually get in the way of seeing people sitting across the table from you, but I finally came up with one that was easy, inexpensive, and fits perfectly on a table.   I come across small vintage tart tins and Jellos molds in thrift {Read More}
