I know most people love glitter, but I rarely use it, because I end up with glitter in my hair, glitter glued to my table, and somehow even my animals end up sporting glitter, but there’s just something about the holidays that requires a little sparkle that only glitter can give.
Today’s Glittered Letter Apothecary Bottle banner is super easy, and requires only a few supplies.
You’ll need:
*chipboard letters (or pre-glittered sticker letters)
- German glass glitter or fine grain glitter
*old bottles
*glue
*baker’s twine (or cotton shipping twine)
*optional – wood frame and music pages
I bought these cute chipboard letters at Hobby Lobby. They also carry pre-glittered chipboard stickers, but the unglittered ones were half price, and I hoped I would fall in love with glittering projects after making this one, so I bought the plain chipboard and a 6-pack of fine grain glitter, in assorted colors. Who knows – there may be a lot more glittered projects in my future!
Use a small paintbrush to put a light coat of glue on the top of the letters, then sprinkle the glitter over them and let dry.
Use a glue gun to affix the letters to the bottles, then tie baker’s twine around the bottle necks.
You can stop there, and just hang your bottle banner up, but I decided to attach mine to a photo frame. I simply removed the cardboard from behind the original glass, and glued some antique German sheet music onto the cardboard, then glued the cardboard back into the frame, behind the bottles (leaving the glass out). The sheet music really sets off the look of the bottles and glittered letters, but it would be just as cute to set the bottles on a mantel or shelf.
If you don’t have any antique sheet music, I have plenty of free printable pages HERE.
I really do love how they turned out, and I have a huge stash of little old bottles right now, so if anyone sees me in public, I may have a little sparkle in my hair…and on my shoes….and my clothes.
