Antique Clothing Store Advertisement

One of my antique store finds last week was a yearbook from our local high school from the 1920’s.  In the back of the yearbook is a “businessman’s section”with advertisements for local businesses.  Obviously in the 1920’s women didn’t own many businesses to place an advertisement in the yearbook.  Times sure have changed, haven’t they?

It was interesting to see a few businesses that are still operating in my city, but most of them are gone now.  All of the banks that had ads in the yearbook are still open, so I guess they’ve done well over the years.

One of my favorite ads is this antique clothing store advertisement.  There are actually several different clothing stores that ads in the yearbook, and some of their ads looked very similar to this one.

This is a PNG image, so you can layer it over other images.

I think this would make a really cool sign also.

I’ll be sharing more great advertisements from this yearbook soon!

By they way, I’ve dropped the ball the last few weeks getting my Farmhouse Friday posts finished, and for that I apologize!  It takes a lot of time to prepare Farmhouse Friday, and I just haven’t had the time to devote to it lately.  Rather than continue to apologize for not getting it done, I won’t try to do it every week anymore – I’ll just share it when I finally do finish it!  Thanks for understanding!

If you’ve missed any of the past 18 Farmhouse Friday themes, you can catch up on them HERE.

Blessings,

  1. What a great font the main part of this image has…love how it sweeps across the entire image! It sure would make a lovely sign…I wonder if there will be such a sign in Knick of Time’s future? 😉

As much as I love the Farmhouse Fridays series, I think it’s understandable that you would need some time to pull them together…there is always a lot to these particular posts…even as I read them, I am thinking to myself how much time and effort it must take to compile so many projects into one post and ensure that it flows properly for an audience! I can’t speak for all of your readers, of course, but I’m perfectly happy with the pace you are going at! I hope you won’t be too hard on yourself…if you could see this from my vantage point, you’d wonder how you ever managed to post even just one of the Farmhouse Friday considering all that you do! 🙂

I found this particularly interesting because I’m from Carthage IL, which is about 45 miles north of Quincy!! Small world! I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and really love your projects. I’ll definitely be using this graphic in the future.
