Early last week, my oldest son came down with a cold. He and my youngest son seem to be magnets for every cold that goes around, but I can’t remember the last time I got sick. I even bragged a bit to my mom that I never get sick.
Well, I’m eating my words now, because within 24 hours, I was sick too.
Within the next couple of days, my son was better, but I was sneezing and coughing up a storm. Since he got better so quickly, I thought I would too, but several more days went by, and the sneezing had eased up, but my head felt like it was full of cotton, and the coughing was so bad, the muscles near my rib cage hurt every time I coughed. I just feel completely wiped out, and the simplest tasks make me want to sit down and rest.
I finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday, and I have bronchitis.
So much for never getting sick! That’s the last time I’ll say that 🙂
I am SO glad neither of my parents got sick, which is the last thing they need right now, and no one else in my family has gotten sick either.
Last week when I wrote about using natural elements a home decor, I placed a pretty old hymn page titled “Hope, Rest and Home” under some autumn leaves, and that page seems to describe how I’m feeling this week – I hope my dad heals quickly and can get out of the hospital soon, and that he and I can both get lots of rest so our bodies can heal. I know he’d like to get back home, and feeling as lousy a I do, I don’t really want to be anywhere but at home.
It’s a beautiful page, so I thought I would share it as a printable with you all.

I slept good last night, and am hoping to having enough energy to do something productive today while she’s at the hospital.
Blessings,
There is a lot of it going around here, too…hope you are feeling better SOON, Angie!
Thanks Linda – I hope this will be the last time I get sick this year!
Hope you feel better! Thanks for sharing that beautiful hymn!
Thank you, Jeanette, and you’re welcome!
I’m sorry you’re so under the weather. Praying for you and your family!
Take care of yourself and get well soon.
Thank you for sharing the hymn. x
Thaks so much, Kate! Glad you like the hymn page!
Angie, may the bronchitis pass swiftly! Bless your heart for posting even when you are sick!!
Thanks so much, Christina!
Be sure to take some vitamins. I take the usual one a day for senior citizens, but when I start feeling bad, I take the extra “Airborne” immune support and they really help. Promise I don’t own stock in vitamins. I stayed sick all the time when I was teaching school and had to search for survival tools. Vitamins helped. You have been under a strain worrying about your Dad, Mom, and family. That makes you vulnerable to getting sick. Let us know how your Dad is feeling. Keeping your family in my prayers.
That’s what my doctor recommended too, Mary – vitamins!
I just started following recently, so are you saying your mother and father are in the hospital?
Praying everyone is back up on their feet soon. Your immune system was probably down too
with all that was going on around you. Some good advice from Mary.
Prayerfully,
TLC
Tonia, no – my parents came to visit me for a few weeks, and my dad fell and broke his hip while they were here, so he’s in the hospital in rehab now. It hasn’t been the best vacation for them, but I’m sure it will be memorable!
Angie
I’m 64 years old. Whenn I was a kid my mother use to make us eat vicks–(stop making faces). I still do it today. It’s only a glob on your finger–it will help with coughing, clear your head up-plus open your sinus.
Also put some ubder your nose–it works great, plus it says on bottle do not eat–well 64 yrs & still going.

You are right, I am making faces, Kathy! I’ve always used Vicks under my nose, but never ate it before!
Oh rest, rest, rest! Bronchitis has a sneaky way of rebounding if you try to do too much too soon! Praying for a quick recovery for both you and your dad…thanks for the lovely vintage hymnal page. Hugs!
Thanks Kathy – I’m sleeping like a log the last few days! This cough has just zapped all my energy.
we just got over colds too…and neither of us have had one in years too…my husband started it…he thought it was allergies…NOPE cause I caught it….lol….mine was over quickly….he always takes longer….
glad to hear your folks didn’t catch it….
and I love that old song….
feel 100% soon
I guess you learned never to say never too, Shelley! 🙂
(I’m playing blog catch up) – I hope you’re feeling much better! I too sometimes brag about that – not getting sick – and kind of brace myself for the karmic backlash. On the bright side my home-based-factory career means I almost never leave the house or interact with other actual humans in person so I’m not exposed to much! Downside: I talk to myself a lot and may possibly be going crazy. Life is about trade-offs.
I do truly hope you’re feeling much better.
David
I learned never to say never, i think we all have to learn that one. lol Hope you get to feeling better and your dad too.Get some rest Angie and have a great day.
Thanks Marlene! The antibiotics seem to be working. I coughed a little less today than I have all week.
Hope your both feeling better soon ! I’m the same way. I’m usually pretty healthy , until I mention it, lol.
LOL – ain’t that the truth, Marijean!
Feel better, Angie! lots of rest & drink lots of fluids.
Thanks so much, Kim!
Oh dear, bronchitis is serious business…I very dearly hope you will be feeling all better very soon! Please know I am keeping you, your Dad, and your family in my thoughts and prayers…you all have had more than your share of health-related issues recently…I think you are due a break!
Please rest well…sending tons of positive healing energies your way!
You’ve been under stress! Up your Vitamin C intake a lot, supplements not just foods high in C. Best of luck for a fast recovery.
