Rustic Farmhouse Patriotic Pennant Banner

If you recall, last month I teamed up with an awesome group of bloggers for our first Farmhouse Friends  event.

We had so much fun, we decided to make it a monthly event through the summer, and I’m excited to show you the rustic farmhouse pennant banner I made for this month’s event!

A few weeks ago, I shared my newest barn quilt, and I felt it needed a little something to give the display a more finished look.

So I made a rustic pennant banner to hang beneath the two quilts, using the same red, white and blue colors in the quilts.

It’s a very basic, easy project, and if you can cut small straight lines with a saw, you can make your own!

How to Make Your Own Patriotic Farmhouse Wooden Pennant Banner

Celebrate Freedom Patriotic Pinwheels Chalkboard Door Tag Sign

First,  trace a triangle shape across a piece of plywood, making as many triangles as you desire for your pennant banner.

You don’t need to sand the pieces – the more rustic, the better!

Apply wood stain on the pennants and let dry.

You could paint the pennants any color, but since I was hanging my pennant banner under the barn quilts, I painted mine red, white and blue.

Use a sander to distress each pennant so that some of the stained wood shows through the paint.

Drill a hole on the top corners of each pennant.

Then just connect them all together with sturdy twine.

Even though all the colors are patriotic looking, I’m perfect happy to leave it on display year-round.
