Would you think I’m a grouch if I said I’ll be a bit relieved when Christmas is over and things get back to normal (or as normal as things ever get in my house)?
I love Christmas. I really and truly do.
I’ve tried to wish every bell ringer and cashier I see a “Merry Christmas,” I baked (and ate) a ton of chocolate kiss cookies rolled in sugar sprinkles, I put fresh evergreens in every nook and cranny in my house, and I even made a glowing mason jar Christmas tote.
But, if I redecorate the tree one more time, because my daughter’s cat has torn it apart again … I’m going to lose my mind.
Seriously.
So after yelling “BAD CAT” for the twentieth time, I decided I needed to do something that has nothing to do with Christmas and is cheaper than therapy.
I designed a new Farm Fresh Milk stencil design to add to my Vintage Sign Stencils line, and then I stenciled with it to my heart’s content.
I made three different projects – a canvas tote bag, a farmhouse pillow, and a burlap place mat.
Here’s what I used: (includes some affiliate links)

First up, I stenciled a canvas tote bag. I’ll be making more for myself so I can get rid of the ugly reusable shopping bags I’ve been using.
Then I made a pillow cover.
And because I hadn’t forgiven our cat yet …
… I stenciled some burlap place mats. 🙂
By the time I was finished, my Christmas “peace and goodwill to all” was back … even to our naughty kitty.
I have another project I didn’t get photographed yet using the Farm Fresh Milk stencil, so I’ll be sharing it after Christmas.
Mix and match my entire line of farmhouse stencils. See them all HERE.
I like your form of “therapy” and the stencil is so cute.
A helpful hint on cat control, we use the anti-scratch spray on our tree and so far no problems.
It smells of orange/citrus, so no bad odor. They say cats don’t like citrus or vinegar smells.
Thanks for the tip Stephanie – I am definitely going to try it, because our sweet cat is driving me crazy with the tree. I’m hoping by next Christmas she outgrows this need to destroy the tree!
Merry Christmas, Angie, to you and all of your family (even the evil tree kitty). Cheers, Ardith
Merry Christmas to you and yours also, Ardith!
I love it! Hope you have a Merry Christmas, Angie!
Thanks so much, Naomi! I hope you had a Merry Christmas too.
