Have you all been watching Timeless? My daughter got me started watching it, and now I’m hooked.
Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus go back in time to stop Garcia Flynn from killing important people and changing the course of history.
I love the story line, but seriously …
If I were Lucy, I’d be buying everything I could get my hands on and transporting it back to 2017! 🙂
Time travel shopping. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
Several years ago, my son and I were in Chicago for the day, and we visited a store that was filled from floor to ceiling with the most amazing vintage industrial decor.
There were pieces from schools, hospitals, factories, theaters, and old stores. It was like a field trip stepping back in the time.
It’s probably a good thing that our Jeep was filled with coolers holding the specialty cheeses he was picking up to sell at a farmer’s market, or I would have been tempted to buy something that totally hadn’t been budgeted for.
Finding the best industrial decor is hit-or-miss in antique stores, so I gathered up some of the most seriously cool pieces that can all be purchased online.
Some of these pieces are restored antiques, others are handmade using reclaimed wood or metal, and others are brand new but look like they are vintage.
I think industrial decor pairs well with farmhouse style, so I’d love to own any one of these pieces.
Oak General Store Filing Cabinet
Industrial Numbered Coat Hooks
1920’s Fresh Roasted Coffee Oak Display Case
Industrial Wheel Crank Bookends
Wood and Cast Iron Crank Table
Reclaimed Work Desk with Swing Out Stool

Vaya con Dios,
Do you remember the name of the store in Chicago? Our son lives there and l would love to visit the store next time l an
M there. Thank you
Janina, It’s been several years, but I looked online and think the store was called Urban Relics.
Timeless! I love that show! Time travel shopping, yes please! lol I love industrial pieces. I am on the look out for one of those carts. Thank you Angie for your fun and inspiring blog. You are one of my very favorites. Be blessed!
I LOVE these pieces. The rich wood and patina on the iron. It’s really too bad that antique stores charge so much for them. With the age of these pieces, I don’t suppose there are too many abandoned schools and factories left where we could find them ourselves for a good price.
I really like them ALL A LOT!!! And, that’s funny to me, since I really didn’t think I liked much industrial décor…..until now. Seeing the items you’ve singled out makes me realize that other than pipes, I must LOVE industrial with wood. The products are so interesting and practical, too, that I’d be proud to own any of them. I didn’t enjoy looking at the reclaimed desk until I saw it close-up, and realized it had a swingout chair. THEN I was in love with it!!! I’m lucky, too, since my hubby is a woodworker, and made me a gorgeous apothecary chest with 16 drawers, with white porcelain knobs. We’re both lucky to have great husbands!!
Mare, I truly love both farmhouse and industrial styles. In fact, if I didn’t love living in a farmhouse in the country, I’d totally love living in an old brick building and fill it with industrial decor. I adore old wood and metal paired together, but a lot of industrial decor goes well with farmhouse style as well.
I love Timeless! I am so hooked on that show (and your blog 🙂 )
Thanks Rebecca – There aren’t many shows these days I would recommend, but Timeless is one of the cleaner ones, and I love it.
Thanks for your reply, Angie!!
Hi Angie, the industrial wheel crank bookends look fascinating; they look like they are made of cast iron. In fact, most of the vintage items we get from the local thrift shops are made of cast iron. Somewhat heavy but they do well as doorstops too! I do add the vintage look to our home and garden sometimes using the bottles and planters that I find to hold some of my garden plantings. One of my recent fascination has been to use tires for my plants. They add to a unique look when trimmed down.
