I don’t do much Valentine decorating, but today I’m sharing not one, not two, not even three, but four easy DIY Valentine Decor projects!
I’m participating in a blog hop with several other creative bloggers. Our theme this month is Valentine’s Day.
All of my projects were made with the small Love Heart silkscreen transfer! It measures just 5″ x 7″, so it fits on so many surfaces.
The first one is a Dollar Tree Valentine Frame that is super cute and easy!
First, take the frame apart – but save the paper insert. I used a faux wood frame from Dollar Tree.
Next, paint the frame with chalk paint. I used Dixie Belle’s Cotton color which is a matte finish white, but any brand would work.
Distress the frame with a damp cloth.
I love how the wood grain shows through.
Set the frame aside to dry.
Fuzz the transfer a few times by putting it sticky side down on a cloth. I like to use flour sack towels. They don’t get too much lint on the transfer. Just enough so it isn’t crazy sticky, which is especially important on glass.
Position the Love Heart transfer on the glass. It fits perfect since it’s the same size as the glass.
Smooth out any bubbles where the letters are. Don’t press down too much anywhere else. That will make it a bit easier to pull up when done.
Have the chalk paste open, stirred up, and ready to apply.
Apply the chalk paste with the squeegee.
Brace the glass and pull the transfer up. Don’t pull from the corner which will distort the transfer. Pull from the side.
Put the glass back in the frame with the design facing down.
Use the paper insert to cut a white piece of paper the same size, put it in the frame with the back stand, and it’s done!
The next project is an adorable candy tin! I got the tin at Walmart for just a few bucks. I used white chalk paste for this tin.
Use the exact same steps as above.
- Position transfer.
- Smooth out bubbles.
- Apply chalk paste.
- Remove transfer.
Fill the tin with candy or cookies. Who wouldn’t love that!
The third project is a cute sign on the Board and Base. I chalked it in white paste also and added bows from Dollar Tree.
The last project I made with this transfer is an upcycle of an old enamelware I’ve had for a few years.
The same process was used as the other three projects.
I have it hanging in my kitchen where it looks so cute!
There are so many ways to use this small transfer on canvas clutches, towels, or Board & Base, and on repurposed things like the enamelware bowl wall decor that I made.

Vaya con Dios,

I love all of the ways you used one transfer! Now I need to go ink some towels with mine – thanks for the great idea! Pinning
Love all these ideas Angie!
Wow! So many great ideas for the love heart! So great how you made a dollar store frame look so great. I really like the enamelware idea! Thanks so much for joining the blog hop! Pinned!
First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not
mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just
trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
Many thanks!
This transfer is so perfect on so many surfaces!! I absolutely love how you did it on the back of the bowl and hung it up!! <3
