I don’t know if Dollar Tree has really upped their game, but it seems like I’m finding so many great things to work with for DIY projects.

Dollar Tree Cutting Board and Chalkboard

Supplies Needed:

  • Plastic Cutting Board
  • Small Chalkboard
  • Bow or Ribbon
  • Twine (optional)
  • Hot Glue
  • Chalk Couture Transfer (optional)
  • Chalkology Paste (also optional)

Instructions to Make Dollar Tree Farmhouse DIY Chalkboard:

  • Take the wrappers off the cutting board and chalkboard.
  • Add hot glue all over one side of the chalkboard and apply it to the cutting board.  Firmly hold it in place until the glue hardens.
  • Add a bow above the chalkboard on the handle.
  • Write or draw something on the chalkboard.
  • You can add a length of twine in the handle’s hole to hang it and you’re done!  I opted to just hang it by the hole.

My handwriting and drawing skills are still bad from my stroke, so I opted to put one of my favorite quotes instead.

The “have courage & be kind” quote I put on the chalkboard is from Disney’s 2015 version of Cinderella.

Chalk Couture has it on a transfer, so that made it so easy to add it to the chalkboard.  Any of the small transfers (size A) would work.

It’s available HERE.

I’ve used this transfer many times, so I didn’t need to “fuzz” it before sticking it on the chalkboard.

After applying the paste with a squeegee …

Instant cuteness!

Dollar Tree does sell pretty burlap ribbon, but if you’re good at making bows you could make your own.  I still haven’t learned to make a decent bow, but I had one already from JoAnn Fabric.  So I just glued that on the handle.

Seriously, it takes about five minutes from start to finish and turns out so cute!

No one will guess most of the supplies came from Dollar Tree!
