Wood Pallet Garden Rack Hanging Planter with Bonus Storage
Several years ago, I made a pallet rack. It was amazing, if I do say so.🙂
First, it was a wall rack for hats and gloves. If you’ve never seen it, check it out!
Then it became a bathroom storage organizer.
It’s getting a new look and task now as a wood pallet garden planter with hooks for bonus organization!
How to make a Wood Pallet Garden Planter with Bonus Storage:
*Affiliate links included.
- Cut a pallet as directed in THIS POST.
- Sand the wood on the front and top.
- Stain with your favorite color of wood stain. I used Early American.
- Position a stencil or adhesive transfer to the top, above the storage pocket.
- Use a stencil brush or squeegee to apply paint or chalk paste and let dry.
- Seal with a Clear Spray for protection, especially if using outdoors.
- Drill pilot holes and attach hooks, evenly spaced. Mine has four hooks.
- Fill pocket with garden tools, gloves, or even plants or flowers.
- Hang watering cans or other tools on the hooks.
TIP – If putting plants in it, use small pots so they can be removed for watering.
Done!
This is an easy project requiring minimal woodworking skills.
After taking it off my bathroom wall, I sanded the top part to make it as smooth as possible.
Next, I removed the hooks and gave it a fresh coat of my favorite wood stain.
While the stain was drying, my husband put a fresh coat of spray paint on the hooks and let them dry overnight.
The next day, I positioned the “GARDEN” transfer at the top of the pallet rack where I had sanded smooth the day before.
“GARDEN” is part if the Watering Can transfer set. I’ll be using the watering can on an upcycle project, which I’m super excited about!
White Chalk Paste makes the word really pop against the wood pallet.
Using an Angled Squeegee made quick work of applying it.
After attaching the hooks back on the wood pallet rack, here’s the how it looked.
All done and ready to put plants in and watering cans on it.
The watering cans had Hello Spring transfers added to them with chalk paste for some fun.
I’m giving away a lavender growing kit in a galvanized watering can* to anyone who places a $75 Chalk Couture order through me.
*While supplies last.
