We’re still a week or two away from having our kitchen remodel
completed, but I thought I’d give you a glimpse of one space
I enjoyed “dressing up”. I’m still arranging and rearranging, so things
are subject to change, but after 9 months of living in this house,
it feels so good to finally start decorating in this room.
I loved our open shelves in our previous home, so we installed them again
in our new home. It gives the kitchen a much more open appearance.
I found this adorable galvanized tool tote at an antique store for $2.
It makes a great holder for some of my ironstone and silver platters.
Someone had written, “nails” on the side with permanent marker,
but a magic eraser removed most of that.
This bakery advertisement came from the back of a 1912
college yearbook that had a sponsor section in the back, so I added it to the tool tote.
This pretty table linen, with a hand-crocheted edge had a hole in it,
so I cut it in half and used both sides to line two shelves (the other shelf
got hung after these photos were taken, so it isn’t shown in these photos).
got hung after these photos were taken, so it isn’t shown in these photos).
The pretty linens cover most of the shelves,
but you can see just a little of the edges of them.
Can you guess what these shelves were originally?
They came from the top of an antique table we took apart.
You can see it in this photo when some friends used it at their
daughter’s wedding reception.
I paid $15 for the table, and sold the legs,
so using the top as shelves didn’t cost us anything.
I love the contrast of the ironstone and the silver together.
Here’s the space where we installed the shelves.
And that sweet little old table I showed you this morning?
There she is! I needed a stand for my microwave.
She was perfect and provided extra storage with her shelf at the bottom.
That gave me the perfect place to put my market basket with antique Ball jars.
As you can see, the kitchen is still a work in progress, but since taking this photo
a few days ago, I’ve finished painting the wood tongue and groove walls,
my husband has put trim around the windows and I painted those.
We still have baseboards and molding at the ceiling to install ,
and a few other finishing details, but we are so close to completion.
Throughout the week, I’ll be showing you some other spots
in the room that are finished as well.
Blessings,
Angie

Angie, you are so like me, i can’t wait to get to the fun part of a remodel, the accessories!
Angie, it’s all coming together so wonderfully. Love the tin tote. It looks so cute with your ironstone and the fun label. Don’t you just love Magic Eraser? It’s one product that really lives up to what it says it will do. I have a shopping basket like that. Right now it’s in my kitchen window with an old scale and some plants. I have alot of blue jars, may have to switch it out sometime. I love how it looks.
Hugs,
Jann

I know you must be so excited to get this to completion, you’ll have such a great time decorating your new space!!
I love your open shelving dressed up with the very same scale I have in my kitchen! When I was painting our cabinets and the doors were off, I realized how easy it is to access everything when there are no doors in the way. Your floor looks fabulous up against the painted tongue and groove walls!
Congrats to Anne and Janice!
Angie, you are amazing! I would never have guessed the shelves were made from a table.

PS I’m ready for Knick of Time Tuesday this week! =)
Open shelves scare my pants off. I love those and the brackets are fab! I just have to have some space where I can hide my wares. I have enough open shelves that I fill with my clutter, uh, I mean junk, uh, I mean treasures. Great job!
Sweet little spot…agree, love the metal with the ironstone! A magic eraser huh? I’m going to try that! Thanks 🙂 Laurel
