Playing with Buttons

I bought 4 more bags full of vintage buttons
and just couldn’t resist having
a little photo fun with them.
First, I picked out a bunch of the reds & the pinks
for a little Valentine sweetness.
Aren’t the buttons sweet in a little bird’s nest?

Then I picked out a bunch of the neutral
buttons and had more fun playing with them.
Who knew buttons could look so romantic?

 Wouldn’t these look pretty on
the tables of a vintage-style wedding reception?

 Even in a whiskey bottle,
they look wonderful!

Here’s the little heart tin filled with neutrals.
Sweetness!

Love, love the neutral colors.
They look so lovely paired with ironstone and old lace.

And then..,
I spilled a huge bag full of them all over my floor.
The good news is, I had a servant pick them up.

Actually, it’s an 11 year old who ran up $30 worth
of late fees on MY library card –
so I told him he had to do 30 days
worth of small, odd jobs to pay it off!
DON’T feel sorry for him!

A few weeks ago,
I showed you the sweet
button garland I made from
more of my old buttons.
I plan to continue adding to it
throughout the year, so it’s
long enough for a small Christmas
tree next year.

On a cold winter’s day,
there’s something very relaxing
about playing with buttons!

Button Blessings,

  4. Oh, that brings back memories from my childhood! My grandma cut buttons off of worn and tattered clothing and kept them in coffee cans. My sister and I spent countless hours sorting them into piles of like colors. Our favorites were the buttons with “diamonds”.

Love the red buttons in the heart shaped container!

  5. Dear Angie
Happy New Year. I wanted to tell you how much I love your daily posts. You inspire me and you always make me smile. This post reminds me of when I was a little girl and grandma didn’t have many things to play with when I stayed with her. But she had the best button box ever. Thank you! My new years resolution is to enjoy life more and see things more like you do! God bless.

  6. I love decorating with buttons, so simple and pretty. The white candle with the neutral colored buttons is really pretty.

  11. Shocking, but ANOTHER thing we have in common. I was blessed with a bunch of little corona cigar boxes of buttons from my ex husband’s grandmother. She loved to sew. Some are still on cards, and the graphics are GREAT. I especially love the pearl ones – but the early plastics are great, too. I LOVE the way you grouped yours by color! They look so sweet in the bird nest. 🙂

    Hester’s letter, scarlet “A,”
Gave the gossips much to say,
    But their rudeness she forbore,
For she knew she was no whore.
