The Mother Lode

Remember I said how much I love tattered, old books?
Well, on Tuesday I hit the mother lode
at the auction house!
I brought home 7 boxes FULL
of antique books and magazines!!!
Loads of books from the late 1800’s & early 1900’s
and a whole box full of German books,
including these 2 little gems.
They are very petite little books,
which, according to Heidi, one of my favorite customers,
are poetry books.
The illustrations in them are really lovely.
Don’t these 3 tattered German treasures look charming together?
There was also this gorgeous
German Piano Book

And would you look at this gorgeous
set of 1899 legal books?!!
The aging and colors are beautiful.
This is just a tiny little glimpse
of the tattered treasures I was
blessed enough to bring home.
Some I’ll enjoy until they sell,
and some I’ll keep for my own collection.
Ahhhh…tattered bliss!
Don’t forget, there’s still time to get your
own Tattered Bookstack!
I’m giving a set away to
one lucky person,
just for linking up to
and commenting to share your
favorite all-time book!
Blessings,

I have a local auction I visit often.

  21. Wonderful post, beautiful books. (It’s “mother lode,” not “mother load.” Sorry, I’m one of those people who auto-corrects misspellings and grammar.)

  22. Wow that really is a great haul!
I love all the hard cover books and I love to buy them for the way they look too!
    Lucky girl.

  23. WOW you realy struck gold with those books! I love those tatty-looking old books, from the aged covers and old-fashioned print to that musty smell that all old books seem to emanate 🙂

  24. Lucky lucky you!! I am so addicted to old books! I’ve been trying to collect a few of the Vademecum series published by Henry B. Altemus Company in the late 1800s. They are such beautiful books. This is quite a haul you made at the auction, and only because I was not there. Haha. 🙂 Fun to have found your blog!

  25. P.S. I’m your newest follower! Hope you’ll stop in at Cranberry Morning. 🙂
