Remember when you were a kid
and you wrote your name on your “valuables”
to make sure your ownership was obvious?
and you wrote your name on your “valuables”
to make sure your ownership was obvious?
I so rarely buy things that are just for me.
Generally, I shop for my business and
regardless how much I like something,
I try to not get too attached to it.
But, I’ve purchased a few things recently
that I want to write my name on.
I bought them, really like them and I’m keeping them!
I bought them, really like them and I’m keeping them!
I’m building my clock and watch collection
and I’ve always wanted a pocketwatch I could
hang from a chain to wear as a necklace,
so when I came across this watch today at a yard sale,
I allowed myself to get attached and personally claim it!
I love the detail on that handle.
I believe it’s actually a man’s pocketwatch, but I don’t care.
It has a hunting scene on the cover,
which has become detached,
but I haven’t decided whether to have it reattched or not.
Sorry for the awful photo – I couldn’t get the lighting right for anything.

I actually prefer the back side of it.
I’ll take it in to have it polished up.
I have no idea what year it was made, or its value,
but I’m keeping it, so it doesn’t really matter.

It doesn’t compare in elegance to the 1905 Waltham pocket watch
I got at a consignment shop for $6 also.
That one became a casualty of my business,
and I had to part with it (after taking many, many photos).
But I also don’t have to worry that I might damage or lose it,
because it’s so valuable.
I recently had a pocketwatch made specially for me with my logo on it,
but it arrived damaged, so I need to have it replaced.
No gold, no well-known watchmaker, no early 1900’s date…but it has my logo. :0)

A few other treasures that I’m hoarding for myself,
are this adorable little wisk broom.
I just love the sweet, little, green, wooden handle (that’s a lot of adjectives!)
and the worn bristles.
And these keys aren’t rare – there are lots of old keys around,
but I’ve never gotten any for myself,
so I got a few for photo props.
I may get a few more I can display in my home.
What have you written your name on?
Due to unethical websites stealing content, I can no longer provide a full RSS feed. I work too hard to produce original and inspiring content to have it stolen by others. Thank you for your understanding – I appreciate each one of you that take time out of your day to visit Knick of Time!!

love it all!!!

What is it about old watches that makes my heart melt? I’m so glad you treated yourself to one! Lisa~
What a beautiful pocket watch. I don’t think I could have parted with it either!
What a wonderful collection of time pieces…so beautiful!! p.s. that whisk broom is awesome. Hugs, Gayle.
My problem is…I buy BECAUSE I develop an instant attachment. Then, of course, I don’t want to let go of the item. So…I pretty much write my name on EVERYTHING I buy! Thank goodness sometimes the writing is only in pencil. lol
Wonderful new finds, Angie! I love the little whisk broom. I collect little brooms and brushes myself.
Thanks for joining Time Travel Thursday again this week.

Beautiful!
Had to Smile… the reason I’m not in the Biz of passing along my Found Treasures is that I DO get so attached to them! *winks* I usually have to own & enjoy them for a Season before I’m ready, in some cases, to part with them and allow someone else the enjoyment of owning them.
Your Watch is lovely…
Dawn… The Bohemian
With all the work you do, you certainly deserve to hoard a few pieces for yourself. The watch is just lovely!
Thanks for linking to Potpourri Friday and helping to make it a success! I appreciate your participation!
I adore your finds and can see why you would want to keep them! The green on the handle of the whisk broom is fab and it’s so chunky! Funny story…I just bought an antique Dutch Bombe wardrobe at an auction and when we were loading it up I saw some initials carved in the side. Believe it or not, they match my initials. It’s a sign that it is meant to be mine!
I love watches and clocks, too! They just call out to me…love your watch and cute little broom.Audrey
I know how hard it is not to want to keep everything! I love the pocket watches and the cute broom. Thanks for linking to the Open House Party this week.

Love all your watches. I would have a hard time letting go of anything I bought for a business, well I bought if because it “spoke” to me!
I just love the watches. I don’t think I would want to give any of them away. I know you can’t keep everything you take in, but sometimes that special find , that find that you love enough to put your name on it, I say go for. And watches and keys don’t eat up a whole lot of space. Great finds.
Hugs,
Ellen
