1 year ago today,
I opened my “virtual doors” to my little shop,
Knick of Time
It’s been such a memorable first leg of the journey,
and I’ll share a little glimpse back at the last year,
but first I gotta say…
I received some birthday presents too!
I won a giveaway for a free sponsor space at
If you’ve never visited lovely Ginger’s blog –
you must visit soon!
She hosts the Wow Me Wednesday party,
and has many tutorials & projects that will inspire you
{plus, she’s just the nicest gal}!
My Urban Industrial Wooden Stool was also featured at Redoux!

Karen has incredible style with a French flair,
so make sure you pay her a visit at Redoux!!
Now for a little glimpse back in time
It all started with this screen window…
We had a stack of screen windows and 6-pane windows
that were removed from our farmhouse before we bought it.
I used a few of them for projects, but noticed on the internet
that windows were pretty popular items.
I was already familiar with Etsy, so I decided that I’d give it a try.
I had to come up with a name for my business and decided on
Knick of Time,
because I love old things that show
the “knicks” that time has left on them…and I love timepieces.
I changed my “image” several times,
and I’m still tweaking it,
but I try to use my favorite clock in most of my listings
and I’ve settled on a font I like.
I’m building a collection of clocks though,
so sometimes I use others as well.
I’ve learned to “upcycle” items that didn’t have “knicks of time”…
they had SCARS from time.
they had SCARS from time.
They just needed someone to invest some extra time in them.
And I became an auction junkie.
I especially love auctions at family homes,
although those are somewhat sad because you know
that someone either passed away or went to a nursing home.
But it’s so interesting to see all the things a family loved
and to see where an item came from.
You get a feel for the “history” of it.
Photography is important – so a customer can envision how the item
could look in their home.
I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to take better photos.
I spent so many hours on other people’s blogs,
that in July, I decided to start this blog!
My business name changed to Knick of Time Interiors,
because someone else had a blog called Knick of Time
(although they had never written a thing on it).
Then in August, I took the plunge
and opened a booth at the Midwest Antique Company.
(yeah, I’ve got to do something different than the string lights).
I really enjoy decorating my space there and am learning
the ropes of selling in a booth.
It’s a pleasure seeing my items make their way into other people’s homes,
even in other countries.
I’ve shipped to Japan, Australia, England, Poland & countries I’ve never heard of!
My items have been used in several weddings.
In the last several months,
I’ve seen an increase in items being purchased by buyers for companies like
Hallmark, Ralph Lauren, Brown Shoe Company, cafes and smaller retail shops –
using them for photo shoots, store grand openings & shop displays.
Lord willing, we’ll soon be moving to a new home
that will have a separate building for my business.
I hope to make this a really functional, inspiring workshop/studio.
As you can see, it already comes with the “Knick of Time” look!
Currently my business is overrunning my home,
(yes, there is a kitchen table under all that stuff)
(and there’s a dishwasher behind those boxes)
I’m eager to have my home just be my home again
and for my business to have its own home.
I’m so looking forward to the coming year,
and thank God for the blessing me with…extra windows!
1st birthdays are always special, aren’t they?
Hope your day is equally blessed,
Due to unethical websites stealing content, I can no longer provide a full RSS feed. I work too hard to produce original and inspiring content to have it stolen by others. Thank you for your understanding – I appreciate each one of you that take time out of your day to visit Knick of Time!!

Happy Birthday Knick! Love looking at your transformation of ordinary and often nearly discarded objects. . . have a blessed birthday celebration!
Wow what a great journey! Happy Birthday to Knick of Time!
Oh Angie, even though we have not yet met, I feel like I know you though your blog and talking with you on email. Congrats to your heart felt year of success. It shows in how much you love it by how much you have grown. Hope you get the place closer to me soon.
