Hit the Nail on the Head

You ever have those times
when you have just completed a project…
you sit back…
survey your work…
and think,…
“Wow”, I head that nail right on the head, this time!”?
Those times don’t come with every project, to be sure.
But today…today…
I feel like I nailed it!
Okay…you can tell I’m a little
thrilled with the outcome of today’s project!
I brought this industrial stool home from the auction yesterday
and it was pretty bloomin’ cool to begin with,
but the veneer had been stripped from the backrest
and even some of the next layer of wood,

so something had to be done with it.
Once again, I sifted through my stack
of 1870’s magazines to find the perfect page.
As soon as I saw the alphabet page,
I knew that was the one.
It wasn’t wide enough to cover the whole back,
so I also used a few pages from a falling apart, antique dictionary.
I think the broken veneer turned out to be an asset now.
It added that extra effect I couldn’t have planned on, if I tried.
I don’t know if anyone in the world will love
it as much as I do…but that’s okay!

Take a swing at something new today!
