One piece I brought home was a portion of a side rail from her bed. The wood was battered, but battered wood is lovely to make signs with, so I decided to make a sign to give to my cousin, as a reminder to her that God was surely her refuge and fortress during that terrible day. The wood was oak, with lovely grain, so it distressed beautifully.
As a side note – just this week, the basement that saved her life was torn out, so the rebuilding of her new home can begin. It isn’t expected to be finished until early next year, but I know she’ll be so happy to be settled again into a home of her own.
Psalm 91 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. I wish I could make a sign with the entire chapter on it, but I hope the verse I used will bless her. If you’ve never read the chapter, it truly is worth taking a moment to do so – it is beautiful.

It is very beautiful Angie, I’m sure your cousin will treasure it always.
Love it and your loving thoughts. I am sure that every time your cousin looks at that sign, she will feel your loving arms around her.
