On the Workbench and In the Shop

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!  Our church holds a party for the neighborhood kids every year.  I forgot to take my camera with me, but we had a great turnout and I brought several homemade games along, including Bean Bag Toss (using the leftover denim scraps from my Overalls Wall Pocket), Potty Toss (throwing toilet paper rolls into a toilet) and Shoot the Can (Nerf guns at tin cans).  Halloween was the last day of my parents two week visit as well, so I didn’t work on any new projects during the week, but my mom and I did visit a thrift store where I found some new things to list in the shop.

My favorite find is this old kitchen cooking pot.  I love the handle, the shape and the patina.  One of my favorite customers is buying it, and she always sends me photos, so I know I’ll get to “visit” this pot after it leaves my home.

I also got this set of “twins” – very small decor mirrors – available here.

This little banded bucket got a paint job as soon as I brought it home.  Available here.

My mom had a Kodak camera just like this one when I was a kid.  Available here.

I found this hanging light at an antique store and the store owner said she wished she had seen it first, because she would have bought it.   It also has a buyer, so it isn’t available.

I also found this antique folding metal hanger – available here.

The thrift store also yielded this antique whisk broom.  It’s bigger than a whisk broom and shorter than a full-length broom and has a beautiful wooden handle – available here.
I found 2 of these vintage vanity dresser mirrors, but I haven’t listed them in the shop yet.
My pastor had a moving sale several weeks ago, where I bought 2 sets of twin foot and headboards.  They were missing the side rails, so I turned one two of the pieces into coat racks.  One has sold, but the other is available here.

I also brought home this caned corner plant stand.

I’m in the process of giving it a little makeover, and will show it to you when it’s done.

  7. Angie, I think your “banded bucket” is called a Firkin’. I found one too and yup, painted it white and filled it with dried hydrangeas. Thanks to you I think I’ll add the doily.
