A Few New Hang-ups

Rarely a week goes by that I don’t make at least one coat rack, but I finished 4 of them this week.
I had a small piece of oak left over after creating a longer coat rack several weeks ago, and since I only had one of this style of old coat hook, I decided to just make a small, single hook coat rack out of it.

I used my Silhouette to cut a vinyl stencil for the words, using the font Birmingham Bold, which you can download HERE.

I thought I was all out of the super chippy tongue and groove wood that I’ve used on bunches of other coat racks, but I discovered another piece that had fallen behind the rack I store my wood on, so I think this really is the last coat rack I can make like it.

I used spray-on Polycrylic over the board to protect the chippy paint from coming off further.

This coat rack was made on the same tongue and groove wood, but on the rougher back side, which I gave a rustic paint job to.   I added an antique door lock to this one.

Another super chippy coat rack on a much larger piece of wood.

This was much thicker paint, so I don’t think spray-on poly would have keep the paint on, so I used brush-on satin wood lacquer, which is much stronger.

Well, those are my hang-ups this week!
Blessings,

Angie

  6. Love this latest batch, Angie! Really like the “welcome home” sign.

  7. What a GREAT idea to use the clear acrylic paint to protect the chipping paint!!! I have some old posts I use over and over for different vignettes and I keep finding the chips laying around on the floor. Probably not good since it’s most likely full of lead!

  8. I love the top one…especially the hook.
