Cutting Edge Stencil Review with GIVEAWAY & Pillow Tutorial

Recently I purchased a bunch of
vintage linens at a thrift store,
which included lots of cloth napkins.
I bought a set of 9 to use for holidays,
and got another set of 6
because they had exactly what I was looking for…
an edge with holes in the design.
The reason?
I wanted to make a pillow top,
but I no longer have a sewing machine,
so I wanted to be able to weave ribbon
through the holes to enclose the pillow form.
When I found the cloth napkins,
and saw they were large enough for the pillow form,
I knew they’d be perfect.
The gracious folks at
let me select a stencil for my project,
and they are giving one
Knick of Time Follower
a stencil valued up to $50 also!
I decided to start with a craft-size, smaller stencil
to get my feet wet and see how it went.
I selected this lovely Lily Scroll stencil
because I knew it would be versatile enough
to be used on pillows, seat cushions, walls, and more.
I like to get a lot of mileage from my stencils!
As soon as I took it out of the package,
I was impressed with the quality of the stencil.
It wasn’t flimsy, like so many I’ve gotten in
craft stores, that slip around while you are painting on them.
It was a perfect fit for the cloth napkins,
so I taped the stencil and fabric to
my kitchen table to secure them.

I used a foam roller from Cutting Edge to apply the paint.

Once I had the whole thing painted,
I used a blow dryer for just a few minutes
to dry it before removing the stencil.

I hesitantly lifted the stencil, hoping for a good outcome
and was so thrilled to see the results!

 Gorgeous!!!!

This whole process took me less than 10 minutes!
After it was dry, I wove some organza ribbon
through the little slits in the edge to enclose a pillow form
between the 2 cloth napkins and it was done.
(Note to self – stitch ribbon further apart next time –
that part took foreverrrrrr.)
I think this stencil would look beautiful on curtains as well
and I can’t wait to use it on other projects and
use other paint colors as well.
The finished pillow!
Yes…I love it and am so impressed
with these stencils!
