Little by little, the mountain of stuff in my workshop is becoming a more manageable molehill. I have cut way back on going to auctions and thrift stores, with the goal of doing something with all the stuff I already have to work with. Last week, my focus was on turning broken old chairs into useful things (HERE, if you missed it), this week I focused on finding new uses for old wooden handles and pans and cans.
Recently, I bought a set of 3 old bread pans that had really pretty patina on them.
I added two of them to the antique chair leg salvage that I showed you earlier in the week, but I still had one more I could do something with, and I remembered Jane @ Mamie Jane’s potato masher tote, and decided to make a variation on it, with my one remaining bread pan. I like that I can either set it on a counter or hang it on the wall. I use several old bread pans in my kitchen already, to hold spice bottles and seasoning packets, so I knew I would get plenty of use out of this one.
I just drilled four holes at the bottom of the pan, then twisted a piece of wire from inside the pan, around the potato masher stem to attach it. The basket rests on the flat part of the potato masher, so no other support was needed.
I like that the old potato masher is useful while on display now.
If anyone from the Hershey company is out there, and you want to thank me for the free advertising you are getting in these photos…chocolate makes a great thank you gift!
I had an antique bike pump with this wonderful wooden handle.
I racked my brains trying to figure out what to do with it, and was ready to throw in the towel and give up. I just couldn’t figure out what I could possibly put on it, which really bummed me, because I love the handle.
I made one last scavenging trip through my workshop and found this old coffee can.
Several years ago, I added a scrap of burlap to it, and a little piece of window screen, then tore the word, “Grow” out of an old schoolbook to add to the screen. BINGO…it was exactly what I needed!
It is totally quirky, but I really like it. I think it would be cute hanging by a kitchen or entryway window, to grow herbs year-round.
Blessings,
My word for this year is LESS. You have helped tremendously with ideas on how to reduce my stash of supplies. My favorite is the fluted tin on the hook.
I forgot to comment on that beautiful photograph you are using for your header. I have snow envy!
OMG, I love every idea. How smart are you. My have to try some of them out myself. Just darling. Going to share on my FB page.

I love your quirky “weirdness” Angie. These projects ROCK! My fave is the fluted pan, but I love all of them:)
You added sooo much character to all of those little tins!
Great job
Susan
If that’s weird, I LOVE weird. You’re a genius and I love that you stuck it out until you figured out how to make your ideas work. So cool!

Ha – we must all be on ‘stuff overload’. I too am cutting way back on the buying and bringing home curbside finds. Gotta work on my current stash. You’re doing great – keep going! Love it….
Unbelievably creative repurposing, I love every on of them and plan on stealing all your ideas (hopefully you will take that as a compliment to your creativity).
Great ideas! Every time I visit your blog, I am reminded that I should never throw anything away. I can’t tell you how many things I see that are now considered vintage – that used to reside in my kitchen or elsewhere in my house. 🙂
I just found you through the Mercantile Muse linkup. You’re so creative with these “bits” that most people wouldn’t want. Great ideas!
Such a clever idea! I’m saving this one, once I find the potato masher I have somewhere and when I come across a bread pan that fits the bill.
Very cute ideas and what a great way to incorporate the vintage pieces into one’s home or garden.
I have a feeling your brain never rests! SO cute and creative — you remind me of Rosemary from Villabarnes as she ‘shops’ her garage and finds all kinds of wonderful treasures!
Hi Angie … you have done it again. Love all your repurposed, quirky creations. Yes, I also think that your brain never rests and you have your body going a mile a minute. When DO you rest? Take care … we all love what you do. You are so creative.
Blessings,
Audrey Z.
