Winter Cabin DIY Canvas Pillow
Get double duty out of your pillows with this reversible DIY method and make a pillow that’s perfect for fall or winter!
As soon as the weather starts turning chilly, my first instinct is to snuggle up and go into hibernation until spring returns.
And the temps dropped into the 40’s last week, so I’m really hunkering down for the long, cold weather ahead!
I’m so so thankful for my dual control electric blanket. I’m always cold and my husband is always hot. That blanket ended our arguments about how warm to keep the house at night.
Any other thin-skinned women out there? Or are you the one who’s always hot?
So this easy DIY canvas pillow I’m sharing today is for all those who just want to hunker down until April or May!
You’ll Need:
Canvas pillow covers or linen covers
Stencils of your choice you can find Hibernate/Cuddle Up stencil HERE
Fabric paint (You can use any color you want, but I used black.)
Ruler or tape measure
How to make a reversible DIY canvas pillow
First of all, center the stencil on the pillow cover, tape it around the edges, and mask off whichever design you aren’t doing to prevent the paint from going outside the design.
TIP – Use this method to prevent paint from bleeding through the fabric.
Using a stencil brush with paint on it that is almost dry to the touch, tap over the stencil until you have the desired darkness. I like mine very dark, so I tap several times around the design. But for a distressed fabric look, you could do less.
TIP – Use the method here to prevent paint from bleeding through the fabric on the back side (tip #2 in the post).
Since two designs are on one stencil, you’ll get double duty out of the stencil and the reversible pillow!
