A Fun Anniversary Antique Store, Target and Ikea Shopping Trip

Last weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary.   It’s so hard to imagine that that many years have passed by!

It was my turn to decide what we would do for our anniversary and the only thing I wanted was to do some Ikea shopping, hit some antique stores along the way, and go out to dinner.   We don’t have an Ikea in our town, so going there is a special treat.

Our first stop was a really cool shop in an old school.  Each classroom and all the hallways were filled with vendor booths.  The owners rent out the gym for weddings and hold indoor garage sales there too.

I snagged this fruit crate.  I love the typography.  I’m not sure how I’ll use it yet, but I’ll figure out!

I also bought this long antique wire basket.  I’m sure you can guess where I’ll be using it (Hint: here).

The last thing I bought at the antique store was an old galvanized bucket.  I can never pass up old metal anything!

I got an antique drawer as well, but I forgot to take a photo of it.

Next we went to a Super Target.

Oh, my gosh!

This country gal really needs to get out more.  We don’t have any Target, much less a super one, and I splurged and got quite a few things.  I’ll start with the smallest splurge first.  It was cheap and cute, so I got this Farm Animal Flour Sack Towel.

Next, I found a set of Hearth & Home page markers.  So cute!

I love growing herbs in my kitchen window, so I picked up this Herb garden grow kit.  I’m not a fan of cilantro, so I’ll probably put some other seeds in the cute galvanized pail.  I’ve already planted the seeds in the rest and am looking forward to seeing them sprout.

I also found a candle on clearance with a yummy melon smell.

I went back and forth about getting this Textured Shiplap Peel & Stick Wallpaper, but I talked myself into it!  I can’t wait to try it out.

Now on to what I got at Ikea.  I could have stayed there much longer, but for the sake of my husband, I kept it under two hours.

*I’m including Amazon affiliate links in case you’re interested in purchasing anything.  The shipping costs from Ikea are very high, whereas Prime shipping is free.

First up, I found a Fejka, which is an artificial thyme plant, and the Fridfull woven plant pot.  Although this plant pot is available online at Ikea, I found one that is similar on Amazon here.

I bought two gray microfiber bathmats.  The larger one is the Ikea Toftbo, for the my bathroom.  The smaller one is the Badaren, which  I’ll use in the men’s bathroom.  They’re both super soft and are a great price.

I got another pack of Tekla dish towels.  I bought some several years ago and loved them.

Last, I also bought a set of 4 Elly blue and white dish towels.  I couldn’t pass them up at such a good price and I love the color.  I’ve seen them turned into pillows, so I may try that.

Thank you guys so much for stopping by my blog today & I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my shopping trip finds!

  1. Happy Anniversary, Angie! It sounds like you had a fun day and you found a lot of wonderful things for your home. I’m sure you’ll come up with a great idea for the fruit crate.

  2. IKEA is an experience. We don’t have one near us, but when my daughter was visiting, we went to one that was about 3-4 hours away because we wanted to get some Billy bookcases. It was quite the idea trip. So much to see!

Happy Anniversary! You spent your time just like I would!

Even though it’s late Happy Anniversary and i know you had fun cause, i did just seeing what you bought. It’s a 3 hr. drive for me to go to an Ikea, bummer.

  4. Now that looks like a fun birthday trip! I love all of your goodies!

  5. Oh happy, happy anniversary! So great you got to pick where to go this year and that he went willingly. I’m not often in the same store with my husband, unless it’s Menard’s. Which of course, isn’t necessarily a bad place to be . . .

We have gone antiquing a few times together and I have very few souvenirs from those shopping excursions. 🙂 I have plenty others from trips w/o him though. I manage to get my antiquing fix one way or another. And great choices too from your trip.

    Many more happy years together!

  6. Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby, Angie! The years do fly by don’t they?

What a great shopping trip! I enjoyed it almost as much as if I’d been there with you! I love the kitchen towels you bought. I need some new dish towels, too, so maybe I have to get to Ikea. Our closest store is about an hour and a half from us, so it’s a special trip. I have seriously been considering ship-lap wallpaper, too. I can’t wait to see how yours turns out. Is it the kind that they say is removable? I’ve heard some good and some bad things about it. Like it doesn’t come off so easily.

Take care and enjoy all those great finds!
