The Right Place at the Right Time

Yesterday was one of those,
“I was at the right place at the right time” kind of days!
I was heading to the auction house
and decided to make a quick run
into the Salvation Army thrift store.
I had to park a block away because there is never much parking there,
but halfway down the block,
my radar started bleeping like crazy,
when I spotted this…
I expected the price to be high,
but it had just arrived and hadn’t been priced yet.
I braced myself for disappointment when I asked the manager how much.
His response?  Well, let’s just say it was cheaper than a movie.
Seriously?!??
I was afraid to leave its side while I went to go pay!

Yeah…I was at the right place at the right time.
She’s now settled into my booth space at Midwest Antique Company,
but if she doesn’t sell quick,
she’ll end up in our “new” {old} house we’re hoping to close on soon.

I know she would look like
a sweet little grandma sitting in the kitchen!
When I went to squeeze her into my already
packed booth space, I was pleasantly surprised to find
there was plenty of room for her,
because this old gal had sold!

Here are few of the other goodies I got at the auction….
A set of 3 old, wooden lawn chairs.

Someone put these on reserve before I could even finish this post!
…a rusty, terrific tool box
…some suitcases

The large, brown one is going to be turned into another vintage book page piece,
like this one…
I also got a cool, wood & metal, industrial stool.
It looks like a layer of veneer was stripped from the the backrest,
so I’m going to ad some antique advertisments to it to spiff it up.

…and an older blue, metal ironing board.
I’m going to remove the stand from the ironing board

and turn the top into a  magnet “inspiration” board for my workshop.

It was a good day!

  1. Love all of it….but I must say I really love the Salvation Army find a lot and the stool is super cute.

    Blessings,

  2. SCORE! What an awesome find; I’m so excited for you! All chipped up and ret-to-go, can’t beat that! And those legs! Gotta love those legs!

Congrats on selling your buffet too! I’ve been hunting for one ever since I got the wild hair to start selling furniture this spring. JUST moved into a store last week, going on a leap of faith and hoping to do as well as all you other talented artists.

    Take care!

  3. You have made another piece of old furniture happy to live again. Happy that you sold the buffet, but a bit sad she doesn’t belong to me.

Thanks for linking to Potpourri Friday. Your participation made a more successful party. I appreciate you!

  4. Wow!! That’s a bargain to be sure! I really like all the things you have…but particularly the piece that sold so you could make room for your bargain!

I’m your newest follower; found you via Common Ground. 🙂

  5. Wow I just love it, and it would look really nice in a home as well as in a shop…..I could fill her up and and treasure her for sure.
    Hugs,
    Ellen
