After our 2nd day of moving in to our
new home, I decided to relax
by soaking in the tub
and strolling through the internet for some
remodeling inspiration for my house.
Relaxation doesn’t come natural to me.
If I’m not doing something, I get antsy.
So, at 12:30 am
I get out of the tub, head out to my new office
and started a remodeling project.
Did I mention, my office
is not inside my home?
It’s outside…in a separate building.
I’ll be showing you my new office/workshop
later this week, but here’s the
project that just could not
wait until daylight.
My office is an a super old outbuilding.
The walls are unfinished wood planks.
(forgive the hazy cell phone photo).
There are oodles of dead bugs,
and dust from decades ago.
It only has 2 electric outlets and they’re outdated,
but, I love wood – especially really aged wood,
so this is like having an old log cabin to me.
Just look at those rafters.
Airtight? No.
But almost as pretty
as gazing up at the stars at night.
What I don’t like
is graffiti on old wood.
There are several walls with similar artwork.
It’s been bugging me all day.
So, I chose this section of the wall to get it out of my system.
I rummaged through my box of
battered old books and selected
dictionary pages, Bible pages & hymn book pages,
because the 3 shades of aged white papers
compliment each other beautifully.
My only tool?
Spray adhesive.
I didn’t try to put them up perfectly
and didn’t even hammer in the
nail points that are coming through
from the outside of the building.
I just started spraying
and slapping them up,
Because I need to go to sleep
sometime before dawn.
Once I was finished,
I selected some similarly aged
bliss to decorate it with.
An hour later, I was done – start to finish.
Another hour to take photos
and write this post, so it’s now after 2:30,
but I can sleep better now.
This is my kind of graffiti…
and it gives me a little extra insulation, right?
While I’m sleeping in today,
you can enjoy some more
graphics taken from
my 1880’s magazines stash.
Enjoy!

What a great space! You transformed that wall beautifully and now the graffiti is a thing of the past. Nice, nice job! I can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of the space.

That looks fantastic! Wow, I thought I had a lot of energy. What a fun project to do, even if it was the middle of the night. I would be inspired to create in this setting. Beautiful.
WOW! You’re a genius! Love how that looks!

Antsy, huh? We have that in common, Angie. I have a hard time being still myself. It drives my hubby bonkers. But I ALWAYS seem to have things to do. 😉
Your new office is fabulous, by the way. It must have been so much fun decorating to hide the graffiti. Thanks for linking it to Time Travel Thursday again this week.
