Today’s Pickins’

I went to the auction
to restock my shop this week,
but I really would rather
keep most of what I brought home…

Like this set of 3 old kitchen items –
a masher, a jar lifter and a wooden spatula.

I love them all, but the spatula is my favorite.
Aged wood…..ahhh.
Do you think my kids might take me a
little more seriously with this
old wooden gavel?

I love this Vintage Receipt Hook
It’s perfect for keys or jewelry.

I love the way it looks against my
Dictionary Wallpaper!

My favorite find this week
was a new {old} clock to add to my collection.

I love the age on the face.

It’s a welcome addition to the clock family.

A few weeks ago, I bought a tin
filled with old sewing notions & buttons.
While sifting through the tin,
I spilled the whole thing on the floor
and my youngest son helped me pick them up.
He discovered this
old bus token amongst the buttons.

It’s smaller than a dime and so cute!
I think I may add it to a necklace.

Hope your week is filled
with good pickins’!

  1. I love all your new/old finds! That bus token is so cute. I think I have a trolley car token from New Orleans from back in the 70’s. The old clock is fabulous. I need to photograph our collection sometime.

  2. The Quincy token might be valuable. And if that gavel could talk it would have great stories to tell. Fun finds.

  3. Love your ‘pickins’! That receipt hook looks like something you’d see in a horror movie . . . LOL! I love the clock and I agree — check on that token. I was just looking on Etsy for some for my ‘vintage travel’ themed room and some are quite expensive!

  4. You found some fun stuff. Love the clock…it looks right at home with the others 🙂 Laurel@chippingwithcharm

  5. Nice finds! Love the Quincy button.

The clock is great. I scored a few of those this weekend to, but still have to find out if they are in working order.

  6. The old clock is delightful. I have no like for digital at all.

  7. Love the old clocks they are one of my favorite things to buy. Laura

  8. Coming from the Picket Fence to say hello! My husband is a fan of all things bus related so he spied the Quincy, Illinois button from across the room. The local system in Quincy was part of a large national company known as National City Lines and judging from the design of the bus the token is circa 1930. It’s always fun to run across such treasures — love the clock too!

  9. So cool! I found a similar token while recovering a chair – from Houston Transit Authority. I added mine to a necklace. 🙂
