A Lot of Ball, a Winner and a Visit

Whew…What a week.  Exhausting, but fun!
We have the best bunch of families whose
kids participate on our homeschool basketball teams
and this national tournament
is a great way to wrap up our year.

In between basketball games, I got to visit some
thrift shops and antique stores and today
I was fortunate to be able to hook up with
Debra of Common Ground.
If you think she seems sweet from her blog, you’re wrong.
She’s much more than that!  She was so relaxing to be around
and there wasn’t one moment of,
“Oh…what do we talk about now”.
She showed me around Relics Antique Mall
(where she has a booth)
and we just chatted as we walked around the mall.
Thanks so much for meeting up with me, Debra.
The pleasure was all mine!

{I didn’t get a picture of it, but she has a
fabulous old, metal garden gate
as part of the display in her booth
that I hope I convinced her to sell on Etsy.
If you’ve ever wanted an rustic, old garden gate –
pester the heck out of her & maybe she’ll sell it!}

I asked Debra to pick the winner of my
Vintage Goods Giveaway
offered at the 1st That’s the Ticket Link Party,

and she grabbed the ticked with
Lindamincie-Taylor’s name on it.
Congratulations, Linda!
(Linda, send me your email address
so I can contact you).

My camera battery died halfway through my
visit to Relics, but here’s a few photos I took there.

I’m not sure where this bench originally came from,
but the photo doesn’t do it justice.
It is gorgeous in real life, with some
pedigree engraved into it.

This old stove was huge and gorgeous!

This booth had a wonderful blackboard oilcloth backdrop
and black and white cafe-style “awning” that made
you want to stop and take a closer look.

This booth sold all vintage records and I thought
the “ceiling” created from old records was a great idea.
This would make a unique wall in a rec room.

I loved this booth’s pretty backdrop created
from strips of torn fabrics.  What an inexpensive, yet lovely idea.

I’ve purchased a fair amount while visiting Springfield,
but it’s all bagged up and stuffed into the back of my van,
so I’ll show you some of that once I get back home
and can unload it all.

My son’s team has 1 more game tomorrow,
then we hit the road for our 5 hour drive back home.
It’s been a great time, but I’m ready to sleep
in my own bed again, see my 2 oldest kids
and get back to work on projects.
I’ve been stir-crazy all week,
feeling the need to make something.
I did stop by Hobby Lobby and picked up some
wonderful terra cotta containers that
I hope to do something fun with –
after I sleep for 24 hours.

Have a wonderful weekend!
