because 5 minutes is about
all I have to spare lately.
Today’s project is a hardware necklace,
created from 3 galvanized metal washers.
You can buy the washers in any hardware section,
but if you’re like us, you may
have some galvanized washers in your junk drawer.
These washers are dirt cheap though.
The largest washer cost .10
The middle washer was .04
and the smallest one was .02.
You can use all 3 sizes, like I did,
or skip the largest washer.
Last week I showed you a project
I made using scrapbook paper
from the Idea-ology line by Tim Holtz and this necklace
uses another product from the same line.
The little “BINGO” image in the center are
reinforcement stickers that are normally
used to strengthen holes in pages that
go on 3-ring binders.
The stickers cost $1.99 for 100 of them
at Hobby Lobby. Use a 40% off coupon
to get them even cheaper. But at
regular price – 1 sticker will cost you .02!
5 Minute Instructions
1) Push the washer down on a brown ink pad
to coat it with ink, then flip it over on a napkin
to remove some of the ink, leaving
just enough for it to look rusted.
Let it dry.
2) Add the sticker in the center of the smallest washer.
3) Put some Modge Podge or other sealer
over the sticker and let it dry.
4) Glue washers together with E-6000.
5) Add thin cord – like hemp cord.
DONE!
Industrial Chic on a shoestring budget!
