A Theme for Thursday – {Baskets}

I love baskets of all types – wicker baskets,

wooden baskets, metal baskets, but I love
turning things into baskets that didn’t start out that way.
I brought home several new “baskets” from the flea market
recently, so they have become my latest “theme”.
For example, this “basket” was originally used by fishermen,
the wire and patina make it perfect to
bring in from the lake to the house.
Do you know what this is?
It was a horse muzzle, but I think it looks
pretty hanging on a wall, filled with yarn, thread
and a vintage crochet piece.

This is a strainer of some type, but I’m not sure what
it originally was used for.  My husband thinks it
might have been used by fishermen also.
It’s quite old and has leather around the top.
Again, very pretty holding yarn and thread.

This is more a pail than a basket, but I love it.
It’s a minnow bucket.  Fishermen have the best stuff!
Of course, there’s the usual baskets I love too.
I have one like this in my kitchen to hold plastic lids,
and another one on my desk to hold bills.

This one used to be a basket inside a chest freezer.

I have several of these and plan to use them in
our laundry room that is being remodeled.
Vintage Large Industrial Metal Basket
This is a little fryer basket I recently sold in my shop.
It’s just the right size to sit on a desk.
This little strainer that makes an
adorable basket.
