Angie, Get Your Gun!

I love old wood.
I especially like unusual old wood.
When I’m at an auction, I’m always
on the lookout for really old wood,
preferably on things that are broken or missing parts,
because those are often the things other people don’t want.

When I spotted this old wooden shotgun stock,
that appears someone intended to make a gun with,
I couldn’t pass it up.
I wasn’t sure what I would do with it,
I just know my bidding finger flew up quick,
and next thing I knew, I was carrying a shotgun
home with me…or part of one.

I gotta admit – toting a gun over my shoulder,
albeit, only half a gun with no barrel or bullets,
made me feel kinda tough gal…ish.

It sat in my workshop for months and months,
and in my continuing effort to create useful things
with all the stuff packed in my workshop,
I spotted it and decided to turn it into a coat rack.

One of my regular customers,
loves it and is getting it for her husband.

Here are a few other coat racks and wall hooks
I finished this week from my workshop stash.

  3. It is perfect like that! It will be appreciated and seen, rather than stashed away. What great ideas you have!

  4. Gun toting Angie:) Great post once again and such a clever way to repurpose old wood. If I was on your side of the big pond I would snap up a few in a heartbeat. With our feeble Rand(just under 9ZAR to the USD) its a little too expensive to buy.

    Happy holidays, peace and joy!

  5. I love old wood, too! That was a great use of the gun, and I love all the racks. My favorite is the greenish one with the four little birds, soooo cute!

  6. Merry Christmas Angie.

  7. These are sooo cool! My husband would love the gun stock one.
All the best in the New Year!
