What’s behind my pantry door? Until recently… nothing.
You may recall that when we remodeled our kitchen last year, I had a pantry door, but no pantry behind it. In fact, the door wasn’t even attached to the hinges when I showed my kitchen reveal – it was just resting there. The bathroom/laundry room on the other side of the wall had yet to be remodeled, and there was a shower stall where the pantry would be built.
I’m happy to report, the shower stall and wall are gone, and that the kitchen is now officially done.
I wanted the inside of my pantry to be as enjoyable to look at as the rest of the kitchen is to me (when it’s clean), so I took some inspiration from old brick buildings…the kind you see in historic, downtown areas. My husband installed some paneling made to look like bricks, and while it was nice, it made the pantry look too dark.
I made a vinyl stencil with my Silhouette, and sponged over it with chalk paint.
I’m so thrilled to have the kitchen completely finished and I love the pantry so much, I hate to close the door!
If you missed the reveal of our kitchen remodel, here’s the BEFORE (yep, it’s just as bad as I remember).
and AFTER. It still amazes me that these beautiful old wooden planks were hidden under 4 layers of linoleum and wood underlayment. I’m just glad we discovered them and were able to salvage them.
And here’s another shot taken on the one day of the year it was totally clean from one side to the other…which doesn’t happen often.
Wouldn’t you think that I really love to cook in my new kitchen?
Nope…not so. I like to eat in my new kitchen, but nothing could make me love to cook.
I’d much rather decorate a kitchen than cook in it, ANY day.

Oh, lucky, lucky you!!! We had a walk in pantry in our previous old house and it was one of my favorite features of the kitchen. You’ve created an amazing space to complement your kitchen. Great minds think alike, you know. We installed that same brick paneling in the basement of our old house and whitewashed it to look like aged brick, too! You’ve gone one step further by adding the very cool lettering. Well done, Angie!!!

LOVE the pantry! Every bit as charming as the rest of your kitchen! In our previous home we used that exact brick paneling in the kitchen (painted, too) and I used a scrap to make my faux fireplace mantel backdrop in my current home. Pretty versatile stuff! I’m gonna go pin your pantry 🙂

I totally agree. Designing a kitchen is way more fun than cooking in one. I am sure if my house didn’t come with a kitchen, I wouldn’t bother adding one. lol

Love your kitchen…instead of that door you could use and old screen door that way you have a door there but also you can see through to the pantry too.
