Last summer, I was on the lookout for some easy-breezy kind of summer clothes. You know…a gal standing on the beach, wearing crinkly, lightweight white cotton, blowing-in-the-breeze kind of clothes…and I didn’t want to pay more than $5 for it…because I’m that cheap and I ruin clothes quickly. One thing I found that had that look was a pretty, simple sleeveless shirt. It was light, it was comfortable, it was stand-on-the-beach breezy looking – so I bought it.
What I want to know is why I’ve never seen a bra or belly button showing in the photos of the long-haired gals, wearing pretty lightweight blouses – because this sweet little number was also see-through, so I never ended up wearing it.
I’m just not that easy-breezy kind of a girl…and no one in their right mind wants to see the surroundings of my belly button through my shirt.
So, what’s a go-back-to-your-oversize, hides-the-belly-roll shirts kind of girl
to do?
Well, turn it into a clothespin bag, of course! Our laundry room is {this} close to being finished, so I’ve been working on projects for it, and this seemed to fit the bill.
I just used a ruler to draw a line from the armhole to the bottom and another across the bottom to shorten it, then stitched those lines closed and I sewed on a cute little piece of hand-crocheted lace I had.
So, if I can’t have that easy-breezy, be gorgeous on the beach kind of look…at least my laundry room can, right?
Totally adorable! I need a laundry room, then this goes on my list of things to make 🙂

You make me laugh. Cute idea…I have a similar top that I don’t wear due to the same reasons. Maybe I should do the same. I use a vintage one at the moment.

Well Angie … I got a chuckle out of that post. Love the cute clothes pin bag, but was hoping you will show us a picture of you wearing this “stand on-the-beach, breezy looking”, sexy blouse. I know what you mean about wearing (hides-the-belly-roll) shirts. That is my kind too.

Angie, I ADORED this! I´ve been sewing a couple of “french looking” white clothespins bags this weekend, but what you´ve made seems pretty much a better idea… and yes, I do have more than one of those light white summer blouses because I´m very fond of the “blowing-in-the-breeze kind of clothes” (as you call them LOL) so when I go around thrifting I always “rescue” something like that… I´m just checking my stock to find one which I can transform this way. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
