Repurposed Chair Seat Bulletin Board

In the fall, I brought home oodles and oodles of antique wooden folding chairs from an auction.

I sold nearly all of them, but I had some left that either had damaged seats, or damaged frames.
I love the challenge of figuring out something new to do with something that would otherwise be trash, so I pondered what I could do with the seat from one of the chairs that had a broken frame.
I stripped off the vinyl covering, and decided to leave the padding underneath in place, since it was in good condition, and just recover it.
I used TAP (Transfer Artist Paper) to transfer this typewriter image (printable version here) onto a remnant of canvas drop cloth, and used a staple gun to attach it to the seat.

I love the contrast of the canvas against the old seat frame.

It has a second life as a bulletin board now.  (It’s available in my shop, here.)  I still have leftover parts from that chair, as well as several other broken folding chairs to create other projects with, so hopefully I’ll be showing you more of them soon.
