That was not the case with this huge pillar candle stand. I don’t know why I bought it, but I’ve had it for about 3 years. A few weeks ago, I was trying to sort through things in my workshop and decided I’d finally get rid of it. I had a stack of things to donate, and I asked my son to carry them to my truck. He took one look at everything and said, “Mom, you really should just throw that junk away – nobody is going to want it.” Admittedly, his definition of “junk” and mine are very different, but I didn’t really feel like hauling it to town to donate anyway, so I agreed. Two more trash days went by and I kept forgetting to bag everything up and put it in the trash can, so there it sat.
I briefly thought about painting it to match the stand, but decided the patina went well with the distressed candle stand.
While this could be used as a bird bath, like Gail’s was, I think it also makes a nice little accent table. It narrowly escaped the jaws of the trash can, so the inspiration came in the “knick of time”. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!
Blessings,
Angie

Wow! I love it Angie…. So glad this didn’t go to waste! (literally!)
Wonderful job.
I love happy endings!!! It’s so hard to pass something up that I at least pass it on for someone else to have a shot at it. :o)
all ended up perfectly…see, there’s a reason why it was hanging around…the inspiration just hadn’t hit you yet!
I just love this! I have a candle stand just like it that I’ve been hoarding in my junk stash and plenty of silverplate platters to choose from. Wow—love it! When I make mine I’ll post my makeover and link to this post!
and this is why I’m a hoarder! You just never know when you might need something! obv we have learned not to listen to your son!

I put a sundial on top of one I found and it looks lovely in the middle of the border! Joan
What a great idea I think it looks great.

Looks like perfect junk now. Love it:)
Why?? Why do you do this to me? Just when I decide to throw away some of my junk
you go and post this cute creation….lol……it’s so cute! Great job!
Great save Angie! I’m glad you found some last minute inspiration. Love it!
so adorable! glad that you did not get rid of it!!
Love it!
So glad you didn’t throw that away!
It turned out beautiful! Curios as to how you attached the platter.
I like that you didn’t paint the silver tray. It’s patina just adds to the overall look. Fun stuff!
I love this idea! I might just copy it!! Great job!
that’s great. every time I read one of your posts, I have the urge to hit the yard sales and goodwill. hahaha

When I saw the first picture I kept thinking to myself, wow, that looks pretty good! Why would she think it was junk?
Then I read the rest.
Great save! Great idea! Great great transformation.
And yep, in the Knick of Time!
Nice save!! Perfection as usual! Great piece Angie!!

Nice save! I would not have trashed this piece. It looks great with the silver tray, too. Little side tables like this are great in so many places!
